We owe our district’s past mainly to architect Michele Sanmicheli, who created the pair of city gates that bookend our street. You can see his blending of Verona’s Roman heritage with distinctive 16th-century Italian craftsmanship woven through our neighbourhood, from Bevilacqua Palace to the Pellegrini chapel in San Bernardino church.
