Won’t Return Without an Upgrade of Experience

I was very disappointed in this stay. The product was very tired and the staff was indifferent in general and to my specific issues.
The issues:
Upgraded to suite where the keys did not work on both floors, the auto drapes did not work and the full kit - pen, paper? - was not set.
Then, the Peloton bike was in an unbelievably bad state. Two of the three adjustment handles were broken or missing
When I reported all of the above, the duty manager said,reluctantly, “we’ll look into it.”
I stay at this property for three reasons, my recognition of status for a better overall experience, the location and the exercise equipment / pool. Two of the three were well below expectation.

The VOCO hotel in Chicago has an ideal mix of amenities, location, and views in a comfortable and affordable hotel (at least for the downtown Chicago area). Located at the junction of two rivers all within easy walking distance of all of the major downtown attractions and with easy access to trains to go to all the other ones. It is out of the way without being too far away. It is in a "quiet" corner of downtown but also right in the heart of the riverwalk, arts, entertainment, and food scene in downtown. For sightseeing or business you are within 1/2 mile of all the major downtown attractions and business destinations. For me it is ideal.

There are some superficial upgrades to the hotel.
The rooms are finished to the modern side.
When I entered the room, the AC was not working, and the room was 78 degrees. I called the front desk, and a maintenance person came and finally got it to work. It took several hours though to cool the room completely.
The bed mattress is marginal and the bed sheets poor as the fitted lower would not stay on the corners.
The bar is improved, but you need a backpack and walking stick to go from the seating area to the buffet line.
Great location to explore the city from.

Get some valet people out the front
Get staff to smile
Change the vouchers to include drinks at the bar
Check the cleanliness of the rooms
Label the stock in the shop with individual prices

Nice location where the two canals meet. Directly across from Salesforce and away from the typical hustle and bustle of a busy large city. Convenient parking garage directly across the street. Rooms were nice, updated, and clean. Hotel staff very friendly. We walked to Navy Pier, Willis Tower, Magnificent Mile, and Millennium Park. Utilized bus service to return from our long days. Closest drop off, still had to walk several blocks to our hotel but it was fine. Great views from the room. Super nice bar. Did not eat at the hotel. Downside, the hotel shares space with offices and condominums (which is probably normal for this city), but you have to use a couple different elevators to get to your room and I did not see bathrooms on the first level (main level); had to go the 15 floor. Then from that floor you take another set of elevators to the hotel room's. So if you need anything, you have to the 15th floor or back to the first floor to guest services. The L train was loud; we could hear it run all night long. Again, may just come with the territory.

I felt absolutely unsafe. While at the pool, two staff members walked past me with one shooting a dirty look. Then, with other guests present in the pool area as well as my child, a security guard entered; stood at the end of my recliner; and asked me, "Do you have a husband?" He repeated it twice. When I asked why he was asking me that, he explained that there was someone of the same race as I am in the pool area that was reported by other guests. I told him that it must be awkward... singling someone out because of their race or ethnicity.
There are so many things wrong with what happened. When I let the hotel management know, we spoke on the phone and they said they'd follow up. They didn't. I keep getting emails stating that they'll would like to discuss the issue further, yet no one actually has let me know when they're available to speak.
I think someone at corporate offered enough points to stay in their lowest tier property during the off season in a far away suburb. I deserve the equivalent points to the four nights I stayed there, plus enough points added on for the stay to be at one of their more secured properties. I'm disappointed that I got the credit card just for the free nights and this was my experience.

Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating! We had a hickup in the very begining but the front desk was very quick to solve! The view of the city was phenomenal and I would highly recommend for your stay!

I am going to assume this stay was terrible because i wasn’t aware that Keyshia Cole and Nascar was in town on top of holiday weekend. Had to wait over an extra hour and a half even after checking was at 4. As a tourist, I made reservations for events on the Pier and missed them because i couldn’t check in on time. Staff was overall friendly but hospitality was behind and it showed from me seeing constant requests for management and patriots very angry with things overall. We barely had any towels and i had to take a different room because of the delay. They did validate my parking which was around $70 and give me a $50 credit. They did what they could but I won’t be back to this IHG hotel or the subsequent Wolf plaza or holiday inn.

Love this hotel! The views are spectacular. The location is perfect. I can walk just across the river to Soul Cycle and my office is right down the road as well. Hotel is super clean and the staff is excellent!

Parking is to expensive. 61 a night wow The hallways are hot , the distance to get to the rooms is wild. My shower head was broken . Breakfast is to expensive. The incident fee is expensive 100 a night wow.
