Dirty and Outdated - Online Pictures Misrepresent the Hotel

This property is old, dirty, drab, has not been well maintained, and is a detractor for the Candlewood brand.
I stayed at this property for one night, after booking it for three. Checked out early. Would never stay at another Candlewood hotel or any IHG property for that matter. I no longer have any trust/confidence that the brand maintains basic standards for property upkeep and cleanliness.

Unmet Expectations and Safety Concerns at This IHG Property

During check-in, the front desk staff did not inform me that housekeeping services were unavailable, which would have been helpful to know upfront. Additionally, they were unwilling to assist with a booking issue involving two back-to-back reservations I had made for the same room type and price. This was arranged through IHG customer service, who assured me the matter could be easily addressed at check-in. Instead, I had to visit the front desk the following morning to explain the situation and obtain new keys. While not a major inconvenience, it added unnecessary frustration that could have been avoided with better communication.
The lobby left much to be desired. It was small and had a hostel-like atmosphere, which didn’t match the usual IHG standards I’ve come to expect. Moreover, a safety issue arose with the side door. Although signage indicated it could be accessed with a key, it was not functioning, prompting guests to prop it open with door wedges. This created a security concern that should be addressed immediately.
Overall, my stay was disappointing. Improved communication, functional facilities, and attention to safety would make a significant difference for future guests.

Booked and confirmed a late arrival to the hotel. When we arrived, there were no spots to park in the lot because of all of the trucks and U-Hauls taking up entire rows of parking. Check-in was quick, but the attendant was rude. No greeting, no smile. no nothing. Not a great way to start. No recognition as an IHG member
Entered the room which smelled of onions and death. Whatever it was, my wife became immediately sick due to the smell and was very allergic. It was awful
Could not switch rooms because the property was full. Stayed the night because it was late, slept very little, and ended our stay early in the morning.
The only saving grace was the morning attendant was very pleasant, was very understanding, and checked us out early without question. I wish she was the one checking us in the night before.

I loved my stay at this hotel. I was in the area for work and the location was perfect. The hotel is very clean and the staff were amazing. The lady that checked me in even recommended a wonderful restaurant.

The front desk employees were all so wonderful, they went out of their way to accommodate my work needs and even gave me a nice room in a quiet area.

The room was great , nice bed, great kitchen, awesome view, great staff, and it was super nice of them for letting me have a later checkout time. The location of the room was really cool, not too far from the Neighborhood Walmart and every other convenient store. And lots of great food in the area as well. And the drive from the hotel to pismo only took 20 minutes!!! I will be staying here again in the near future.

The staff are hospitable and the service is nice, the front desk lady was a bit helpful specially when I asked her assistance about the TV. She patiently teaches me how to operate the TV remote and even offered me if I want to try some of their CDs (movies)
