Excellent package, quality service!

The purpose of our stay was to evaluate the hotel property and services to see if it would fit our family lodging expectations with our daughter having a wedding in the Asheville area. This resort has everything we needed from flexible meals, hair/makeup, spa, salon, outdoor activities for fun/leisure, to being located near the wedding venue. Vanessa did an awesome job planning all of our hotel arrangements and showing us around. All our appts are right on this beautiful 125 acre property! The restaurant service was phenomenal, working with Erin & David. Thanks guys for a great experience!

Very Disappointed

Planned this weekend to celebrate birthdays with my adult children. Had told them Crowne Plaza's are normally very nice and more luxurious than standard hotels. They let me and my spouse choose the hotel since we travel more and my spouse is a regular business traveler. It was a special celebratory weekend for them, so we wanted to help and offered to help with the hotel room using a combination of points and cash. They were expecting it to be nice, and when they arrived found that the hotel was under renovation. This was not mentioned when we booked the hotel. Plus, by adding Resort to the name, you expect it to be higher class. So, construction is going on, the main entrance has been moved, furniture is scattered throughout, the parking lot is full of equipment, etc. On top of that, there was a dog show going on. We love animals but are allergic. Even though we were on a pet free floor, we were still affected by it. Not to mention the smell in the air. We were all extremely disappointed in this hotel. We make regular trips to Asheville, but we will not recommend or stay at this "resort" again.

Needs updating and more informed staff

Apparently the section of the hotel that I stayed in has not been renovated in quite some time. Probably since cell phones and laptops were invented. There was one set of plugs (2 outlets) that were accessible. Even the hotels that are not considered "upscale" (which is what I had always considered Crowne Plaza properties to be up until this visit) have plugs available in the lamps or on the wall by the bedside and/or on the desk. All other plugs were unreachable, behind heavy furniture.

Also, upon arrival, a VERY perky and friendly receptionist checked us in. She had great confidence and poise. I trusted her when she told me where to park and enter the section of the building near my room. She also told me there was an elevator in that lobby. Well, my daughter and I brought all of our luggage inside and looked for the elevator. We looked in that small lobby...nope. We looked in the wing to our right. Nope. We looked in the wing to our left (where our room was). We ended up dragging things up the stairs (luckily it was only one flight). Does the front office staff not get a tour of the facility before they talk to customer? Is there a reason that the map does not have elevators drawn on it?

And, to top it off, this website tells me that it may take up to 72 hours for my recent stay to appear on my list. Well, it's been over that and it's still not on the list. Let me guess, the perky receptionist is in charge of linking the reservation to the IHG website...

There is an elevator on both sides of the building. Our bellmen would have been more than happy to assist you with luggage. This place is huge. It used to be a Sunspree Resort. Nice hotel, with great rooms for the price. Some renovation going on but didn't have any problems.
