Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Uninterested and unhelpful staff. I have stayed in Holiday Inn Express Hotels on a regular basis, and our stay at this hotel was not a good one. First, the staff was less than welcoming upon check in, and not very helpful when we asked them to recommend a good place to get a nice evening meal. We had been traveling and sight seeing all day and wanted to have a good meal before retiring for the night. They said they didn't think any restaurants were open because there was some kind of festival thing going on. They did not offer to find out what might be open and said there was fast food places at the nearby truck stop. We ended up eating at a chicken place there and settled down for the night. The room was comfortable, and the room was clean. The next morning when I went down for breakfast there was almost nothing out to eat, and what was there was cold and dried out. I went to the front desk to ask about getting something edible. She barely glanced up and said the lady over that area was in the her office. She did not get up from her seat or show me where that office was. I finally found the office and was again treated with indifference by the staff. She informed me that breakfast was over. I did not realize that we were in a new time zone, and therefore had not chaned my watch. We had been in New Mexico the previous week which was an hour earlier than Pecos. When I explained this to her, she just walked away and begain taking the cereal up. Some of the staff members were in there still getting something to eat. I was upset and decided to just go back to my room. I had planned on taking something to my friend who was still asleep when I left the room. When I arrived back at the room, we realized that we had less than an hour to shower, dress, pack, and get checked out due to the time error. When we called the front office they did agree to give us until 12 to get out of the room. All in all, the experience we had at this Holiday Inn left a bad taste in the mouth. August 9, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average hotel with Hit and Miss Consistency I have stayed at this particular location many many nights of the past year. It is the only decent choice for me that is within a good distance of where I am working. I have addressed various issues at times, in the past, but the last few times that I have been here, the level of service seems to be declining. I am sitting in an 88 degree room right now as I write this. When I got to the room, a little over an hour ago, the AC was turned off and the temp was 92. It felt like I was in a sauna. I'm currently sitting in front of the AC just so I don't become a puddle of sweat! I was here last week and had a long talk with the manager on staff at the time about how their cleaning staff needs more training. Last week my room had a torn shower curtain, a tub drain sitting on the shower shelf, and a crooked light in the bathroom. The AC was also off in the room when I got there, but it wasn't quite as hot as this one today. When I got to the room today, the shower curtain bar in the bathroom is broken. All of these items should be noticed by the cleaning crew and then fixed. The staff on some days are great, on others, especially weekends, aren't not nearly as competent, efficient, and/or nice. One other item, their elevator makes a terrible noise and stuttering feeling as you are going up. It's been like this for months, and I've complained multiple times, but it's never been fixed. Overall, this site has a lot of room for improvement, and I hope it does improve soon. By the way, on a positive note, their bacon in the mornings is the best from any HIE I've been to. It's usually very crisp and not soggy and limp like it is at most HIE breakfasts. July 19, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Seems to be the best in the area Pecos is kind of in the middle of nowhere - this hotel is a gem in the middle of that. It lives up to all that i have come to find for HIEx hotels. The price seemed a bit high (on par with beach destinations) - but i think this is probably due to the lack of availability in the area. The breakfast was above the norm for HIEx - very attentive July 10, 2015
