One of the best hotel location which is located at Nanjing Shopping Street where foods and shops just around the corner! Super close to metro station as well. Affordable price rate and the room is spacious. Highly recommended.
Formal Complaint Regarding Unacceptable Treatment

I am writing to formally report an issue I encountered today at the Shanghai Nanjing Road Crowne Plaza Hotel, which has deeply disappointed me as a long-standing Diamond Elite member of IHG (since 2007).
1. Refusal of Check-In for My Wife:
I booked a room at your hotel using my account points for my wife’s stay. However, during check-in, the front desk staff refused to allow her to check in. As a result, my wife was forced to book a separate room in cash to stay at the hotel.
2. Poor Resolution Attempts:
o Upon calling the IHG reservation hotline, I was informed this was "hotel policy" and no exception could be made.
o My booking was deemed non-refundable despite the circumstances.
o The staff member offered free breakfast in exchange for a 5-star review, which I find highly unprofessional and unethical.
My Concerns:
• Policy Clarity: If there is a policy restricting point-redemption bookings to the member only, this should be clearly communicated at the time of booking—not during check-in.
• Customer Care: As a loyal member for nearly 20 years, I expect fair treatment and flexibility, especially when no clear policy violation occurred.
• Integrity: Offering incentives for positive reviews after poor service is unacceptable.
This situation is unacceptable.
1. Clarify where this policy was disclosed during my booking process. In over 20 years of travel, I have never encountered this "Hotel guest have to inform Hotel guest name 7-day ahead" policy, nor was it stated during my booking via your app.
2. Refund the charges, as the room was neither used nor made accessible to us.
3. Escalate this matter internally to ensure such inconsistencies do not affect other guests.

I booked the hotel due to the great location, right on the Nanjing Pedestrian street, and it doesn't disappoint. I booked a renovated room which was amazingly clean. There was no smell of smoke at all, which is great. It was bright and the air conditioning worked well for us. I especially appreciated the light switches. I think literally you can control each light in the room individually. Special thanks to Front Desk team Ariana and Starry. They are professional and helpful.

There are many hotels on East Nanjing road but this one is one of the best. I tried four different rooms, each is completely different from another. One is superb, newly decorated but all the others are old, even though two of them are above 20 floors. The new and best rooms should be above 20 floors (21-24 floors) but apparently the rooms are still different. But at lease the rooms have everything you need, I sleep well, the staff is professional, location is the best! Price is good.
However, Shanghai was 35 degrees that day and the hotel didn’t turn on AC so my rooms are 27/29 degrees! Horrible… Asians like me might stand it but I can’t imagine all the hairy whites can stand this at all! The hotel explained that this is still March, they plan to turn AC on in April, but come on, tell summer to wait for this hotel?
Also, after I checked out (it was prepaid), several days later I found there is a RMB 50 charge in my credit card bill! I called the hotel, who told me it was laundry, which I never did! I am so angry and disappointed about this wrong charge.
The hotel manager asked me to write a 8-10 star good review, I was going to, but now I must write this bad review. I hope this hotel can correct these and make it better next time!

Great location, very helpful and friendly reception, concierge and door staff! But let down by dark room, small windows and air conditioner that didn't work so got too hot - 28 C/82 F!

Room is clean, spacious and quiet. Few things to note;
1. When I try to select movies in TV set the whole TV set was got hung, need to power off and power up again to resume
2. There is no pen and paper in the room!
3. I was quite happy with the cleanliness except that there was a small cockroach swimming in the bath tub. Not sure if it has crawl through my toothbrush, amenities.....

I stayed here for 3 nights with my daughter for a vacation. The outside temperature was over 30 degrees celsius. The temperature in my room was consistently over 26 degrees celsius. No air conditioning. No fan. Hard bed. Mediocre breakfast.
