With a wonderful history of about 2,500 years, Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is well recognized as another China’s Wonders like the Great Wall, stretching the city from the south to the north. The old bridges over the flowing stream, ancient streets and residences display its brilliant historical and cultural heritage, which are regarded as an amazing trip to the East by foreign travelers.

Located on Shugang Hill, in the city's northwest, is Fajing Temple, formerly known as Daming Temple, as famous ancient poets like Li Bai, Bai Juyi and Liu Yuxi had ever been there. Da Ming Temple and the buildings in the annex celebrated for its work including Buddhist Temples, cultural relics, historical sites and garden sceneries, which hold a connotation of rich cultural treasures.

Slender West Lake is a man-made lake where beautiful views and historic points coexist. It lies in the southwest of Yangzhou. The lake is a state-level scenic resort and gets its name because its outline is long and narrow like a slender, gentle girl. There are 24 scenic attractions at the lake, including the White Pagoda, the Five Pavilion Bridge, Xiaojin Hill, Fuzhuang, 24 Bridge and many others.

He Garden, or He Yuan, located in Xuningmen Street, is the national key cultural relic’s protection units. The He Garden is the representative work of Yangzhou gardens in the late Qing Dynasty, and is the embodiment of Yangzhou's garden characteristics. It makes full use of the gallery which makes the building functional and charm with the 1500 meters complex road corridors here as a unique wonderful landscape in China's gardens.

Ge Garden is not only Yangzhou’s one of the most prestigious garden landscapes, but also a key national cultural heritage conservation unit and one of China’s top 4 famous Parks. Ge Garden uses bamboo and rocks as its principal elements and is characterized by stone-piling. Different rockeries are formed from different kinds of rocks to represent different scenes in the four seasons. There are no other similar gardens anywhere in China.

This round, three-storey pavilion in Yangzhou's eastern sector was built in 1585 and celebrates the city's rich cultural traditions. The whole building is about 79 foot high, and looks like Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Today, bordered by many shopping stores, Wenchange is a symbol of commercial center to residents.

It is 1122 meters long and paved with slates. In the past, it was not only the water and land transportation route in Yangzhou, but also a commercial and cultural center. There are many shops here that are old and a large number of monuments and heritages. Everything here maintains the characteristics of the Ming and Qing Dynasty.
