Fort Cavazos, formerly known as Fort Hood, is a major U.S. Army base near Killeen, Texas. Renamed in 2023, Fort Cavazos honors the legacy of General Richard E. Cavazos, the first Hispanic four-star general in the U.S. Army. The base supports a large military community and is home to the III Corps. While you’ll need special permission to go on the base, you can tour the exciting National Mounted Warrior Museum, located just outside the base.
