All good and the hotel was renovated and all the staff was great

We were very happy we picked this hotel. The location is beautiful, the view from the pool/hot tub is just amazing. It's also located right on the Island Explorer route, so you can easily get into town and don't have to fight for parking downtown which is crazy hard to find as well as be able to have a drink without worry. The pool was heated and the hot tub was great. One thing to note though, we thought we had the wrong location and were actually worried about our reservation, because when I put it into the GPS as Holiday Inn Bar Harbor, which it says on my reservation, it showed as permanently closed. All the signage we saw at the actual hotel says Bar Harbor Regency. No mention of Holiday Inn. Very confusing. Also, the breakfast room service was terribly slow, we'd probably go somewhere else next time. Our building didn't have an elevator, which was surprising, not really an issue most of the time, but annoying with luggage when checking in/out. But all in all, we'd definitely stay here again.

I can’t count the number of years my wife and I have been coming to this Bar Harbor property. My wife played on the dirt piles when this place was being built and she’s in her 50s now. We have been through the highs and the lows of customer service as well as watching the property slowly deteriorate. For many years we left saying never again just to rebook the following year because honestly you can’t beat the view of Frenchman’s Bay from the hotel pool. As you can imagine, this year we were so excited to see all the renovations to the hotel. We booked two nights (separately). for the first night, we used an anniversary night plus an additional 18,000 points for a standard balcony room. We are platinum elite and even though we ask, it has been many years since we received any sort of an
upgrade…and understand it’s based on availability. Anyway, we checked in to our standard balcony room. Upon arrival to the room in the main building, the room looked great. It was remodeled and we were so happy to see it that way, musty smell gone as well! Oh wait, where is the door to the balcony? Upon further look, there is a balcony, but no door!! I went down to the front desk and inquired. The response received was that it is a “step up” balcony. Have you ever heard of such a thing? So, essentially it’s a crawl out the window balcony! For us, the balcony is an important part of the room for us. We love to sit on the balcony in the morning enjoying our coffee and chatting while our child is sleeping and ending the day on the balcony after a busy day exploring Acadia. We begrudgingly moved the furniture out of the way to climb out the window to enjoy our balcony. An employee brought us a complementary breakfast coupon for our inconvenience which was a nice thing to do; however, we weren’t looking for a breakfast, we wanted the room we booked. For our second night, we booked a pool view room. The front desk was wonderful to let us move to our new room instead of waiting until late afternoon to re-check-in. The new room was in the adjacent building that does not have an elevator. Okay fine we already knew from all of our stays there is no elevator. Our room was just one flight up on level 8. Opened the door, no remodel done. Okay fine this is the old musty hotel from prior years. Oh wait, it's really warm in here...the air conditioning is blowing warm air! My wife contacted the front desk to send maintenance. The maintenance guy's response was well it's blowing. At well over $300 a night (from prebooking in advance (the day of rates were well over $400) the maintenance man did not care one bit whether the room had AC or not. My wife shared that just because it was blowing wasn't okay, and that the room was too hot. It was the morning and upper 70s in the room at that point. The maintenance man said that he would mention it to the front desk. When we went to leave the hotel to do some exploring, we realized the level 8 hallway was extremely warm as well...one floor below on level 7 was at least 10 degrees cooler. We stopped by the front desk on our way out. The maintenance man had not shared anything with the front desk. Nothing was resoled. We were told the hotel was overbooked. Also, told the owners do it on purpose and send the overbookings to their other hotels! We’ve been loyal patrons, and I think this year just finally did us in....we left more disappointed than ever....thinking never again!! btw, I couldn't review the nights separately, so the stars given are an average between the two stays.

I was extremely happy with the gorgeous view of my ocean front view room I reserved! I also was able to bring and accommodate my dogs with this trip, which it was awesome to get a gift bag for them when I checked in! The staff was always super friendly and checking on the condition and preferences of my stay!

This was our third attempt at a hotel for visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia. So glad we continued to upgrade our occomodatioons and ultimely landed here. It was an amazing experience. We utilized the Hot Tub everyday, loved the free coffee and the staff was great. Would highly recommend.

The hotel is great. Great location with the city shuttle to the center of bar harbor. About 10 minutes drive to the national park. Updated hotel room. Much better than what I expected especially read the reviews here. Overall great place to stay .

What a great hotel with wonderful new upgrades throughout the property. The grounds are beautiful to walk around and the ocean is at your fingertips. Spacious room, great lobby bar and awesome lobster breakfast. Top notch staff from the moment we arrived.
