First Stay at an Avid

Great "European" style room, except that it had a much more comfortable amount of space... Comfortable bed, choice of pillow types, wonderful showerhead, all good. Breakfast, while it didn't have a "buffet" of choices, was really just right: I could find enough of what I liked to have a good solid meal and enjoy it (even had hot sauce!). Beyond that, the location is just about as "central" to South Florida as you could find, right near the intersection of a couple of the major arteries.

A lot of water leaking issues!

For being a newer hotel, it had a lot of issues. Shower leaks on the bathroom floor, a/c leaked really bad and smelled bad!

Newer hotel/Poor design

The first impression was average at best. Nothing welcoming about the entrance. The room was not equipped with any drawers for clothes or in room coffee maker or microwave. It’s very sterile. The room window leaked so bad that I took pictures of it and had to tell the manager on duty about before we left. He took the room out of commission and apologized and gave me a discount. It was not necessary but appreciated.

Great location, clean property & wonderful staff

Very strategically located for me and very well maintained and always very clean Fitness center is always organized and clean with plenty of towels available.
But the best part is their staff especially miss Alina, so hospitable and so welcoming, always greets with smile and asks for any help i may need as a guest to make the stay better.
Deserves better than 5 stars!

A bundle of confusion..

We were put in room 208 where the mold was growing visibly and the paint and mold was falling into the shower. It smelled strongly. We then got moved to another room because there were no more king rooms and promised another the next day. Our new room 320 I believe the bathroom door wouldn’t shut so if you did number 2, the whole room smelled. Then we asked for our king room and finally received it hours later. We had to move 3 times for a 2 night stay with no apologies or discounts. I wouldn’t recommend this place to a dog. Not to mention the elevators said the service expiration date was 8/1/2025.. past due

You Rock! But fix the door key system

As a consumer it's important for me to comment so we all can protect our hard earned money.

Avid, FANTASTIC for a smaller format hotel! Love it and will stay there again. However, ownership missed the mark and the 5th. Star. Why? The hotel's key card system was not working. Unacceptable for an IHG hotel and the higher level of hotels that Avid is.

Other than that i highly recommend AVID hotels if you can be comfortable with the smaller cozier style hotel. Great job to the staff there. Especially those who ran back and forth letting us in our rooms while the key cards were not working. Staff you rock 👍

The key card system was down our entire stay! We had to be escorted to our room each time we needed to get in. Had to wait because there were not enough staff! Never again

First time I have booked a room and each time I have to ask someone downstairs to come up and open my door if I leave I have to ask and wait on someone to come open my door bad experience.

Basic, no-frills efficient hotel

I have stayed at this property several times. I used to stay at other IHG hotels in the area but now the Avid is my go-to hotel.

It is a low frills hotel but very efficient for me since I can get a quick breakfast in the morning and it's close to FLL airport, Fort Lauderdale and easy access to I-95 to get to Miami. The blackout curtains are very good at blocking light for a good night's sleep. Having a car is very helpful since there isn't much nearby, and parking is free. On the rare occasion when I've had an issue or problem I have brought it up with Greg (manager) and he has taken care of it immediately. He genuinely cares that everyone has a great stay. The staff at the hotel have always been helpful but a special shout out to Marie (housekeeping) who made sure my room is very well serviced/cleaned/supplied daily.

The room was clean and colorful. It was tiny with barely enough room to walk around the bed. There were no closets, dressers , microwave or coffee maker. Very minimal on towels and supplies. The waste paper basket was about 1/2 gallon. Miserable stay. All of our belongings were spread over any and all flat surfaces. I like my room clean and uncluttered. This made for an anxious vacation. I’ll never stay at an Avid Hotel again. It’s more like a hostel at the price of a hotel.

We scheduled an early check-in for when we got there. They told us that it wasn’t possible. That we had to wait until 3:00. The gal working the front desk wasn’t even willing to look up the reservation. Finally at 2:00 she said rooms were ready. Then argued that we couldn’t have set up early check-in, although the room key was sitting there from the time we got in. She then acted as though she couldn’t find our reservation. Then had to wait another 20 minutes because apparently the room wasn’t clean. Getting to the room the room was in poor shape. The floor was peeling up. There was moldy food in the air conditioner. Overall poor experience.
