Good hotel but the breakfast is served at 7AM when business professionals need to be at work by 6-7AM. Refridgerator did not work. Coffee great.

Beautiful new hotel but badly managed

I've waited for a new mid-rate hotel in Traverse City so I was excited when I heard about the Avid Hotel. It looks very new and modern from the outside and in the lobby. The rooms themselves are fairly well designed. I like the hard surface flooring and the use of low nap rugs instead of carpeting which always is musty and filthy in most hotels. The breakfast was decent and convenient. This is however where the positives end.

The mattresses were very saggy for a new hotel. It was very uncomfortable and prevented a good night sleep. The housekeeping maintenance was also poor. Also, the water in the bathroom had the strong stench of chlorine which did not make for a pleasant shower. The bathrooms and countertops were still dirty after service. The bed was barely made and the floors made my socks dirty. When I politely brought this to the attention of the assistant manager, she said she didn't believe us and had to "investigate". She also said "nobody else has complained" which is the weakest response possible. She refused to offer us any kind of compensation or even an apology despite a proudly displayed guarantee on the wall that "you will have clean comfortable room or we'll make it right". She promised us a call back after she met with her boss within "a couple hours max" and neither her or her boss contacted us. I called back and she said that her boss reviewed the case and refused any compensation. I was treated very rudely and basically accused of exaggerating the circumstances for my benefit. This is not the behavior of a professional staff. If they change the management I'll consider returning.

Nice stay in Traverse City

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights while in Traverse City as part of a vacation. The location was quite convenient and we found the stay to be pleasant. The property provides a couple of nice touches, including luggage dollies in the lobby and coffee machines that freshly the beans. I also found that the breakfast selection was a bit better than what I have had with other hotel brands at the same level. All in all, it was a nice stay and I would return when returning to the area.

Nice hotel. Short drive from Clinch Beach. Great location in Traverse City. Close to everything including restaurants and Pirate Cove mini golf. The beds are comfy and clean. The black out curtains are fabulous.

poor prep - room stinks

we booked on short notice in a busy area for a weekend adventure and didnt mind paying over $400 per night - the room smelt like wet laiundry that had sat for a week - every time we returned we smelt the odor strong - we did not complain at the desk becasue they would have brought us air frehsener as hte hotel was full and frankly air frehsner is a temp cover up that cuases us headachesm- very poor prep for ht eprice - wont be back - considering dropping my 1.2M+ points to go to anohter hotel chain

High price for poor experience! Ran out of breakfast items before 9:30 on a Saturday. Uncomfortable rooms and unimpressed customer service when incorrect bill was provided. Would not return under any cost. Frequently use IHG for business and personal so very disappointed in this location.

Very nice hotel clean. Had all amenities accept bar soap. Had liquid soaps and shampoos and I prefer bar soap but other than that the hotel was great it is a very clean and updated hotel.

Everything about your hotel was lovely, except one blaring issue that should be addressed. There needs to be a shuttle provided to the airport for guests. Because of the size of this city, there are very few options and that becomes frustrating for someone who absolutely needs to get to and from the airport.
