This is a very good hotel that provides all the basics in an affordable way while maintaining a clean and fresh facility. The room and everything within it were very clean; everything worked; there were plenty of charging ports; the common areas were very well kept; and the overall property was very clean. The Staff were very professional and friendly, and there were absolutely no issues with checking in/out. The property seems like it is fairly new, and it still looks like it just opened.

Avids are a more basic group of IHG hotels, and this is perfect for anyone who is not looking for any frills and is traveling alone or with one other person. While this hotel was excellent I would not recommend it for those with families as the rooms would be rather tight for them. Also, one has to be realistic with the amenities at a no frills hotel like this be it the Breakfast, room sizes, etc. since this is geared more towards being a place of rest as opposed to being a resort. This is a perfect hotel for anyone just looking to have a good, safe place to sleep and clean washrooms and is not looking for anything beyond that.

The location of this hotel was very convenient being right along the I-696 meaning that anyone who has work assignments at General Motors or any of Detroit's northern suburbs, then this is a great option. Even downtown Detroit is not a huge drive from this hotel though it takes roughly thirty minutes with no traffic and most likely double the time in heavy traffic. Even though this location is right along the I-696 the expressway's noise was not terrible, and it was easy to sleep here. There are plenty of places nearby to do shopping and dining be it the Tim Horton's next door and a Meijer and other such stores within a mile of this hotel in case one needs to get essentials. The hotel and the area around it are very safe, and there are no issues with security at this property.

As is a problem with most suburban Detroit hotels it appears that young people like to stay at these kinds of properties on Saturday nights and be noisy. I would say the only night that can be a bit difficult to stay here is on Saturday nights due to the young people being noisy. Other than that night this hotel is very quiet and a nice place to be, and the problem I described is not unique to this hotel but appears to be an issue city-wide around the greater Detroit area.

Overall, this is an excellent hotel that is a great option for anyone needing to be in the northern part of Detroit. This is not a difficult hotel to find, and it is kept up extremely well with its being a relatively new facility.

Avid properties are newer, and that shows in the exterior and interior of the property, with friendly and courteous staff. This location is off of 696, and the traffic noise is evident.

The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. No daily room cleaning but fresh towels were offered which was a first experience for me but not a problem.The shower cracks and crevices could have been cleaner. The body wash pump did not work but was not a problem for me as I bought my own. Also, I didn't trust the cleainess of the ice buckets located at the ice maker and therefore did not use one. But overall my stay was comfortable and location was fine as well.

It was an okay stay.

The room itself was just okay. I felt that the room essentials could have been better stocked for someone staying an extended amount of time. It was annoying that I had to ask for basic items like toilet tissue, facial tissue, and extra towels. Additionally, I found numerous microscopic pieces of hair under the mattress, which was truly disgusting and suggested that it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Overall, my stay was just average.

Good experience, but double charged.

Everything was good until I kept on getting phone calls, when I answered it was to tell me there had been an issue with the check in. So they charged me again, but then I checked my credit card account and there was two charges, sooo, I had to go back to the counter and get reimbursed wich took a few days to go back to my account.

We drove almost 5 hours to find out our room wasn't ready till 6pm. There were hairs on our towels and I was told by staff there were no more when I ask for more. Loud guests in the hallway all hours of the night. Employees arguing in front of guests.

This place is awesome I come here because of the great service they provide. The rooms are always clean and the staff is always welcoming. I will choose this hotel every time. Great location as well

The management and staff really don't care about the customer. We couldn't get them to clean our room once in the week we were there. They did come in and took out the trash once. No made bed. No fresh towels. When we would come back to the hotel in the evening, we would complain that the room wasn't clean, they said they couldn't do anything because they stop cleaning at 1:30 pm. So, we got some clean towels and went back to our room. When the room still wasn't cleaned, we complained again. Management said that us getting our towels counted as our service for the day. They told us to just go complain to corporate and get some points for our trouble. We will never stay at an Avid again. So disappointed in IHG.
