Birthday Bliss in Folkestone – A Hidden Gem!

We stayed in a Queen Suite for my mom’s birthday and had such a wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming—smiles all around, super helpful with parking, and even surprised us with some biscuits on arrival.
The hotel has been recently refurbished and you can really tell—everything felt fresh, clean, and thoughtfully done. Our room was lovely, with a comfortable bed and spotless bathroom.
What truly made it special was the effort the hotel put into celebrating my mom. They had a playful birthday banner waiting in the room, and shortly after check-in, they hand-delivered a surprise birthday cake! My mom was over the moon.
Breakfast was a treat too, with a good variety of options and some tasty à la carte dishes to choose from.
Honestly, with all the little touches and the quality of the experience, the price felt like a total steal.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a stay with heart and hospitality!

Staff are wonderful , room size lovely always clean and tidy.

A very small double room with a comfortable bed. Shower room / toilet was tiny and the shower water pressure was poor.
On arrival the reception area was clean and tidy, but the gentleman we checked in with appeared very disinterested and not particularly helpful. A little disappointing when he didn’t even attempt to point us in the right to our room until we asked.

This is my regular stopping place, whenever I am in Folkestone. Its a good location and, since its revamp, its quite a nice environment to stay in.

On my first visit to Clifton Hotel after 6 years, I was delighted to be recognised and greeted as a returning friend by Ms Philippa at the Reception Desk. My stay was most enjoyable. Bedrooms and bathrooms have been completely renovated since my last visit and made for a very comfortable, fresh and well looked after environment with every convenience. Breakfast buffet, with its multiple choices, was accompanied by friendly and attentive service, especially from Ms Jingy and Ms Becky. This same professional service was apparent in the formal dining room, where I invited a friend for an excellent Sunday lunch, and in the Coral Bar where I also had light meals and coffee with friends. In fact local residents told me that The Clifton had become a popular place to meet for drinks or coffee or for special dining occasions. All in all, I would like to convey my thanks to everyone at the hotel for making my stay so memorable over almost 3 weeks during May.

We stayed at the Clifton Hotel in Folkestone in May and can recommend it highly. The welcome from the staff was very favourable, the room was lovely and my Coeliac (gluten free) diet was very well catered for. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the beautifully cooked food was a delight. The chef made a special effort with my choice of meal. The waiting staff were very engaged and conversation with them was much appreciated. We shall return to this hotel.

Great family room with 2 xl beds . Children were welcome and felt comfortable. No noise heard from other rooms. Breakfast was great with the children,lots of choice and friendly staff to help if required. Nice lounge area to sit with children .we found parking in front of hotel and paid in the hotel.
Fridge in room is helpful. Spacious shower. Lift to all floors .hotel close to all local attractions.

We had a great stay. Our room was spacious clean and very comfotable. Breakfast was wonderful with a great choice . We had drinks in the lounge area which was very comfortable and relaxing .we didnt have dinner this time . There are lifts and disabled toilets . Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Children were made very welcome. Tea coffee hot chocolate water and biscuits in the room. Mini fridge in room. The hotel is close to sea,theatre and shops .

Very much enjoyed this stay. Hotel rooms were modern and very clean and the location was wonderful for walking the beach and going to the nearby playground with the kiddos.
