Very basic feel to a crowne plaza

After staying in many Holiday Inns, Express's and crowne plaza's, this was by far the most disappointing given the price paid over the two nights stayed and the basic décor of the small sized room. Breakfast was not up to the usual quality and variety.

Sorry IHG, wont be rushing back, as school teachers we take mini-breaks every half term. We'll need some persuading if we are to come back.

The hotel was fully booked, and the staff were overwhelmed especially at reception! Although I am a Platinum Elite member, I was tersely informed that it would not be possible to obtain a room upgrade, nor would I be able to use the executive lounge. No reason was given regarding the use of the lounge? A little more civility would have helped?

I was disappointed in general with the hotel. I booked a room on the executive floor, with access to the bar on the same floor. I was glad when I was handed vouchers to use downstairs . The executive lounge ( as it is called !!) is no more than two bedrooms knocked into one. ! I have stayed in the hotel before on business , unfortunately that's really what it is "a business hotel" . I have stayed at the Lowry & other hotels in Manchester which I would rate a league above the Crowne .
The one thing that REALLY annoyed me was when I ordered Tapas, first of all they got the order wrong & secondly our server suggested a piece of bread with the tapas . The way she said it I thought it was complimentary. It was on my bill £1:60 for two slices of white bread.
After spending £120:00 in the bar on the first night alone I feel this was a bit much. Believe me when I say it ,£1:60 never rared me , it is the principal of the thing.
Suffice to say I will be seaking alternative accommodation weather it
Be business or pleasure on my next visit to Manchester.
Also the shower in the room lacked both pressure & space it was very cramped for the price of the room .
