Rated 1,0 out of 5,0 by Overcharged Overall the hotel is clean with a nice pool for the kids. The problem is that I was charged for a room when I had a free Priority Club Rewards Night. And they refuse to credit back my credit card for the stay. I only should have been charged for parking. They claimed to have it fixed at checkout but its not and I am tired of calling the hotel to see where my money is. Also the thermostat did not work in the room so it was very hot in the room in the morning. 22. April 2015
Rated 4,0 out of 5,0 by Comfortable bed and good service The room was large and comfortable, the service was good, and it was convenient to have the conference session rooms nearby. It was also convenient having the shops and food of the Merchandise Mart accessible without going outside. But, the location of the hotel is too far away from such attractions as the Art Institute, and the awkwardness of the elevator system, requiring one to change elevators in different locations, makes for a trying experience. 22. Rated 1,0 out of 5,0 by Extremely Disappointed Let's see where do I start, how about no one being present when I arrived to help with my bags which were slightly heavy due to the fact I would be staying for 5 days. Then I get barked at walking in by the rudest of security guards telling me DOWN THE HALL AND TO THE RIGHT IS THE FIRST SET OF ELEVATORS. Then I walk up to the reception desk and stand there in silence while not 1 but 3 clerks converse with each other and completely ignore my presence for about 3 minutes. Until the gentleman finally offers to check me in, in the most condescending manner I think I've ever been spoken to by anyone in a hotel in my entire life. I've been treated better and had a nicer room at a much lower brand of hotel. Day 2- The Fan in my room stopped working when I got back from Sales Training which happened to be the reason I was in Chicago to begin with. My room was at least 75 degrees and I had to sit in my underwear until someone came to fix it. Then how about being overcharged at the Hotel bar and the extremely overpriced and poorly prepared food. My Salmon was burnt the first night, second time I tried the café my steak was overcooked, the potatoes were badly burnt and barely edible, my colleague found a frozen ladybug in his salad. My very last afternoon in the hotel I decided to try a burger while having a beer before my shuttle arrived and yet again the waiter was terribly rude and not helpful and I think at one point complained to me because I asked for ranch to go with my fries (which from the taste of it was obviously sour) a lot like his attitude. Then he brought ketchup & mustard instead of ranch and told me he would get the ranch to me when he had time because he had other customers. This is very sad for a hotel as large as this to have this much dysfunction and if I hadn't been there on business I absolutely would have switched hotels after night 1. It also happens to be in a very inconvenient location which did not help when trying to leave the hotel and having to walk 2-5 blocks to eat or drink somewhere else. I would only stay here again if it were completely free of charge room, food, drink everything!!! 20. April 2015
Rated 2,0 out of 5,0 by Questionable housekeeping practices Was disappointed to find out that housekeeping simply dumps the entire contents of your bathroom garbage can - including plastic soap wraps, and other non-biodegradable items - into the toilet. I discovered this because they forgot to flush the evidence away! 20. April 2015
