Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Super king-size bed... and complimentary Kit Kats Well for the third successive year I stayed at the Holiday Inn whilst in Birmingham to catch up with old friends during Birmingham Pride. I stayed in room 723 which wasn't quite as luxurious as was it 802 or 803 the year before (the best room I've ever stayed in and better than some my friends have in 5* London hotels) but probably up on the room two years ago. Executive rooms are certainly worth having for a little more space. I was greeted with a super king-size bed which technically was two 3' beds or rather mattresses together so on your own you do have to pick one side or the other rather than lying in the middle. On having a peek inside the mini-bar I could see I had complementary i.e. we won't charge you for this, sparkling and still water and a 2 finger kit kat which if seen to be have been eaten by room service staff was replenished daily. If I had to recommend improvements then a little more lighting as it was still not that bright with all the lamps on. Likewise the TV could have been a little larger and how about a small chest of drawers - my underwear was stored in the safety deposit box! I'd also consider mattress toppers for the beds though this is because I have one at home and many may then complain the bed felt too soft and possibly something around better soundproofing of the windows. The ear plugs were a nice touch but such things take me back to childhood ear infections and cotton wool soaked in olive oil shoved in my ears. Only one other issue and that was getting in at 4.30am on a Monday morning with a guy on the door who was being over vigilant with 2 girls in front of me. 45 year old old dear who's been dancing in the 'Gale now wants to put her feet up. What goes on in the hotel stays in the hotel is the usual hotel motto and let's be honest in the week those there on business bring people they've met in a Brindley Place bar back no doubt with no issue so there shouldn't be if you want to let your friend into your room in the early hours of Sat/Sun or B/H Mon whilst they wait for the first bus or train back home. So yes please stay here. It's 2 mins from New St Station, 2 mins from the Gay Village and about 4 from the Bullring Centre... and you get free kit kats May 29, 2015

Annoying the information you get from booking site, Holiday Inns direct and reception at the hotel all differ. No simple to get the phone number of the hotel from the Holiday Inn web site.You get shunted off to a central booking site. May 27, 2015

My only gripe is the bedrooms seemed slightly dated and I don't like the Holiday Inn policy in some of these hotels to have wooden shutters as curtains as you do hear them banging in adjacent rooms. Apart from that I had an enjoyable stay. May 25, 2015
