Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always a warm welcome All the members of staff we met were incredibly friendly, informative and cheerful. They are the reason this hotel is our first choice when using Eurotunnel. Rooms are spotless but beds do vary enormously for comfort. Breakfast is included and is both varied and good. 17 April 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by excellent bedroom but failed wake-up call What stands out in my memory is 1) the high standard of sleep due to excellent facilities in guest room. Liked the breakfast -minimal but perfectly adequate. However, we could find nothing ONLINE to cinvince us that there would be an adequate evening meal available, so we brought a picnic and were wise to do so. There were refs to a Great Room but no sign of it ! Also refs to a free starter to a 2-course meal but no sign of a menu. The addition of an assured evening meal would make our stay more attractive. Also, when we arrived back to collect our car, there was no chance of a cup of tea ! We appreciated the free car parking however and the quiet environment (piped music in corridors quite unnecessary - could be a put-off to someone v,tired and makes conversation more difficult) 2) we can hardly overlook the matter of the failed wake-up call which blighted the beginning of our holiday. 17 April 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Break after the tunnel We have used this property plenty of times before and sometimes after using the channel tunnel. You couldn't be positioned with more convenience, without sleeping at the checkin lanes. On this occasion we had our dog with us, no problem at all for the hotel. What this visit with our dog really highlighted is the truly excellent staff service. Perhaps I've been blasé about our treatment in the past, so this is to sort the record out, the staff at this holiday inn are first class! They are welcoming at any time of day or night. If only all other IHG properties excelled to the same degree. Many thanks ! 16 April 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cofortable room I would have liked a bigger variety of breakfast food. Add mushrooms, bacon and fried eggs. Also I did not have a laptop or access to WIFI, so I would have liked to have access to radio on the television. I liked the design of the bathroom with a door that closes on the loo, so my partner can use the sink. Otherwise I found it a comfortable experience. 16 April 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location close to Eurotunnel and friendly service. If you're looking for a place close to the Eurotunnel, this is it. We left the hotel at 8:00 for a last check-in of 8:20 and made it with plenty of time to spare. My only issue with our stay was upon arrival (it was 11:00pm). I booked the room for 4 people (2 adults 2 kids) and the fold out was not made when we got our room. We called asking for linens for the bed, instead they moved us to a different room after we had already unloaded everything. Everything else was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Overall a pretty good stay. 16 April 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good staff I have stayed at other Holiday Inn hotels and rate the Folkestone as better than others. As a basic overnight stay it is fine, your staff are your best asset. The price, in comparison to other hotels in the area was steep, although I appreciate that the proximity to the tunnel makes it convenient when travelling to th e continent. 15 April 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Travels with the dog The greeting staff were great to us on arrival. I cannot say much about the breakfast as we checked out really early so had the packed continental which is just fruit, fruit juice and a croissant. Every body slept well including the dog 14 April 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for Channel Hop Travelling from South Wales to France about twice a year, we usually make a direct run to France run using Eurotunnel and find somewhere to stay on the other side of the Channel. Doing it this way tends to make it a long day with an early start. On this occasion we opted to stay this side of the Tunnel and picked Holiday Inn for its price and close proximity to the Shuttle. Our room was clean and adequately appointed with tea/coffee facilities and a hair dryer. Bed was comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. Free Wi-Fi. The in house menu for evening meals was very limited (bar/fast food style) but there are plenty of restaurants to choose from in nearby Folkestone if you fancy something a bit more substantial. Breakfast was either continental or a choice of three hot English dishes to eat (sausages, beans and scrambled eggs). In terms of value for money I have to say it was great. On the negative side I think the rooms could do with a refurbishment. Whilst ours was clean in terms of bedding and bathroom I couldn't help noticing a number of stains on the walls and carpets. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Would I stay here again? Yes definitely. We were able to get an early start for a days shopping trip in both Belgium and Cite de Europe. Our stay here suited our purpose. We wanted a bed for the night, somewhere that we could get a meal/drink in the evening and breakfast before we departed. Unfortunately our return to South Wales was hampered by getting stuck in the car park they call the M25 for 2.5 hours. All of which was down to rubber neckers slowing down to look at an accident on the opposite carriageway. 14 April 2015
