Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good staff I have stayed at other Holiday Inn hotels and rate the Folkestone as better than others. As a basic overnight stay it is fine, your staff are your best asset. The price, in comparison to other hotels in the area was steep, although I appreciate that the proximity to the tunnel makes it convenient when travelling to th e continent. 15 April 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Travels with the dog The greeting staff were great to us on arrival. I cannot say much about the breakfast as we checked out really early so had the packed continental which is just fruit, fruit juice and a croissant. Every body slept well including the dog 14 April 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for Channel Hop Travelling from South Wales to France about twice a year, we usually make a direct run to France run using Eurotunnel and find somewhere to stay on the other side of the Channel. Doing it this way tends to make it a long day with an early start. On this occasion we opted to stay this side of the Tunnel and picked Holiday Inn for its price and close proximity to the Shuttle. Our room was clean and adequately appointed with tea/coffee facilities and a hair dryer. Bed was comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. Free Wi-Fi. The in house menu for evening meals was very limited (bar/fast food style) but there are plenty of restaurants to choose from in nearby Folkestone if you fancy something a bit more substantial. Breakfast was either continental or a choice of three hot English dishes to eat (sausages, beans and scrambled eggs). In terms of value for money I have to say it was great. On the negative side I think the rooms could do with a refurbishment. Whilst ours was clean in terms of bedding and bathroom I couldn't help noticing a number of stains on the walls and carpets. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Would I stay here again? Yes definitely. We were able to get an early start for a days shopping trip in both Belgium and Cite de Europe. Our stay here suited our purpose. We wanted a bed for the night, somewhere that we could get a meal/drink in the evening and breakfast before we departed. Unfortunately our return to South Wales was hampered by getting stuck in the car park they call the M25 for 2.5 hours. All of which was down to rubber neckers slowing down to look at an accident on the opposite carriageway. 14 April 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant but has room for improvement Overall the stay here was pleasant enough. The room was big, clean and comfortable. The staff were pleasant and dealt with us very quickly on our late arrival. We were travelling on the Eurotunnel the following morning so the location was ideal – only a few minutes away from the Terminal – and there is a large 24-hour Tesco store and petrol station a short walk down the road. The things that could be improved: - The shower could have had better pressure and been hotter - The wall behind the bed kept creaking throughout the night for some reason - There was an area of the ceiling in the bathroom above the toilet which looked it required some repair - The price we paid on checkout wasn't the price that we had seen on the website so it was higher than we expected 13 April 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by what a difference staff make We have stayed here before and had excellent service, however on this ocasion the service by some of the staff was less than perfect. The hotel really does need an upgrade, the carpets in the two rooms we had were badly stained and as we had an 18 month old with us we were reluctant to put him on the floor of the rooms. Also when we asked for his food to heated up (as last visit) I was told by reception 'she was not kitchen staff and we would have to wait for some one to come in who was'. The time they were coming in was past his bed time so he would have had no dinner! Did not encounter this problem last time, staff could not do enough for us and the little one. I would suggest that as the food service is limited that a small microwave be placed in the restaurant area for parents to heat up baby food, lots of other places do this. 12 April 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good place for quick visit We were only staying for a night before crossing to the continent, and this is a good place for that. It is a bit out of the town (so difficult to go elsewhere) and the choice of food for evening meal limited. What we had was well cooked and presented but there was not much choice and difficult to get even that - we had to book in for a table and few time slots available. Beds comfortable and staff very helpful. Good, clean, relaxing place with nice breakfast included. I would certainly use them again. 11 April 2015
