Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent front desk staff and awesome breakfast This was our first time in New York and the hotel was okay. The prices for N.Y. hotels are outlandish so this was kind of in a reasonable price as prices go.We couldn't have asked for better front desk service .Top notch.... 11 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exceptional service and value For a NYC hotel, it was spacious and the attentiveness of the staff put this stay above all others in NYC. The kindness and attention to service experienced from check-in to check out were exceptional. It felt like a 5 star hotel!!! 11 November 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and great service. Location was great - walking distance to Times square Outside Patio area is great. Rooms are nicely decorated 10 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and great service We enjoyed our stay and thought the staff particularly helpful and polite. The room itself was a little small and the bathroom too. But both were clean and comfortable. A good choice of reasonable quality food for breakfast, though I might have liked more variety of fruit. Overall we felt relaxed and enjoyed our stay. 08 November 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff; clean and comfortable rooms. A long walk to the nearest subway stations and not near restaurants. Clean and modern hotel but stay on top of your reservation. I paid over twice what I would have had to pay for one of my days by not checking to see the room rate had dropped by more that 50% in three months. Was able to cancel and re-book the remainder of the stay at a much better rate. Rooms are small like other NYC hotels in this price range, but everything appeared new and in good shape. AC worked well. 05 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I've found my "Go To" Hotel in Manhattan. Staying in Manhattan is always a challenge. It is hard to find that right balance of location, room quality, value, safety and friendly staff. I was there for a full week on this trip and this one hit all the marks. The real high point was the staff. Juan, who checked me in, started things off right with an efficient check-in and friendly demeanor. Most everyone was friendly and would greet you with a simple "hello" or "how are you". The folks behind the front desk would often tell you to "have a good day" or "enjoy your evening" as you left the hotel. Breakfast was excellent. Certain days and times were very crowded. Rather than fight the crowds, I just took my breakfast back to my room. In warmer weather, I suspect taking breakfast to the outdoor patio at the front of the hotel would be great fun. Coffee was plentiful There was hot coffee (both decaf and regular) all day and all evening in the breakfast room. That was a real value. There was also a microwave there to heat up a snack if you wanted to. I worked on my computer several afternoons in the breakfast room which was a nice break from working in my room. Even the folks who brought in the coffee and restocked the creamers and sugars were friendly - often taking a couple minutes to chat about the day or if I was enjoying NY. Plug-ins in the room were plentiful - great for the computer and recharging the iPhone, iPad, cameras and various batteries. I think there were 5 plug-ins at the desk and 1 on each night stand as well as others throughout the room. There was a USB port at the desk also. The room was extraordinarily clean, efficiently laid out. The in-room safe was large enough for a laptop (most are not) and other electronics - it really put my mind at ease when going out for the day or night. The low point was noise from the hallway. Most hotels in Manhattan seem to have narrower hallways, lower ceilings and perhaps thinner walls/doors. A couple mornings, a lady in room next to mine decided to have entire conversations with her husband - while she was in the hallway and he was in the room - at 7AM. If you want to discuss your day, do it before you leave the room - or at least not in the hallway in full voice (rather than hushed tones). There were also some out of control kids a couple days who just don't get that you don't have to yell to be heard - when you are a couple feet apart. None of this is the hotel's fault, some folks just don't understand how sound can travel in that type of environment. The only odd thing was the "king" bed. It really wasn't a king size bed. I think it was the king size width, but it was a few inches shorter lengthwise. I thought I had grown or was perhaps losing my mind. I solved the issue by pulling the bedding out at the bottom of the bed and letting my feet hang over. Not a huge issue, just odd. All in all - it was a wonderful stay. Staying in mid-town and being able to walk back to my hotel (rather than taking a cab) after dinner or theatre was great. Even late at night, the walk seemed safe with plenty of other people out walking on the streets. This will definitely be my "go to" hotel when I return to Manhattan. 04 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel Great hotel on the west side of Manhattan, great staff and nice accomodations for NYC. Convenient to everything and nice restaurants two avenues away. I am a platinum member and was very impressed how the hotel ran. Nice job. 04 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great choice Had a nice stay. Clean rooms, friendly staff and breakfast was really good. The location of the hotel was close to many things and to do . I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again. 04 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Concert Goers All the usual good service we have grown used to at a Holiday Inn Express. As usual for any NYC Hotel, the rooms are a bit tight. 27 October 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The WORST IHG property I have ever stayed at. My first impressions of this property completely mislead me. As I've stayed in Holiday Inn Express properties from Bangkok to Baltimore, I've always been pleased with the consistency of my experience. This one however was a distant outlier, and I hope to never return. I have NEVER, at any IHG property, experienced a staff who have been so rude and who collectively put their needs above that of the staff. With the sole exception of the breakfast staff who were extremely courteous and welcoming, the rest of the staff need major attitude adjustments. First: When there's a "do not disturb" sign on my door, it doesn't mean wake me up and invite yourself in to service my room. And when I politely say go away, don't give me an excuse that it's 11am and I do not have a late check-out which I had agreed upon in advance with my Platinum membership, and for which I received ZERO recognition for. Second: When I leave a bag check at the front desk, don't let my bag go missing and say it's not your fault. Third: When I've been waiting ten minutes on the 4th floor with my baggage for an elevator, only to find out your staff have been holding the elevators elsewhere in the building, don't say "you should have taken the stairs." The only consolation in this whole mess is the hotel manager who was genuinely appalled by the behavior of her staff and endeavored to rectify the situation. NEVER again will I stay here. NEVER EVER! 27 October 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hidden Affordable Gem Tucked away down a side street between 10th and 11th Avenue near to the Hudson River this was a good location if you are happy to walk, once you get your bearings as to where we were in Manhattan. Rooms were compact but adequate - we were on 9th floor, although the gap under the door allowed the noise of other guests on the corridor come into our room. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was again small but really as expected for New York, considering the price. Breakfast area was busy but food plentiful and enough choice to fill up for the day. The included buffet breakfast is unusual in my experience and saves a bit of time if you are on a tight schedule which tourists usually are. Staff are particularly attentive and Farrell in particular was very friendly and helpful. 26 October 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 You get what you pay for. Given that I wanted at least three star in mid town Manhattan for less than 150GBP inc tax I knew corners would need to be cut somewhere. This was value for money on the whole although the breakfast (especially how crowded the area was) was poor. 23 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location Great location (short walk to Broadway and Times Square.), VERY clean, attentive and courteous and attentive staff. Bathroom sink counter space very small but overall even though small, bathroom acceptable. Breakfast maybe not gourmet but a good variety of items. Would definitely return. The outside patio is a real plus to sit and relax 22 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It was Good The staff was polite and very helpful. They were friendly. 21 October 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Overall below expectations For the amount I paid for the room, I had much higher expectations. The neighborhood was poor, the room was tiny, there were no amenities beyond a free lousy breakfast and the staff was not top notch. I questioned my bill and why my credit card was charged in advance. The answer I received made sense but was not explained to me when I made my reservation and negotiated my rate. The pillows were very uncomfortable and the TV connection went out and there was no resolution. 21 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Welcoming Staff and Great Location The Holiday Inn Express on 48th Street in NYC is a great place to stay in NYC for its location and staff. I stay at many IHG properties as a loyal Platinum Member. I choose this stop for the location mainly as I visit several times a year for business and seeing relatives. The rooms are small but very clean and efficient. The staff is welcoming and very attentive to the customer needs. I especially want to single out Farrel who was attendant on staff during our stay. Farrel was working in the breakfast room area. He was very professional, courteous and pleasant. As a frequent traveler I look for several things in a hotel…. Cleanliness, location, and courteous and helpful staff. This IHG property has them all. Congrats! 20 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Incredible hotel My husband and I were both super impressed with the service, location, and cleanliness of this hotel. We were greeted with a warm welcome when we arrived. Our room wasn't ready because we about 3 hours early for check-in. The staff tagged our luggage and held onto it until we arrived back that evening. The rooms were bigger than we had expected and we had an excellent view of the city. The breakfast exceeded our expectations. We were able to choose from eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, cereal, muffins, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, etc. We were able to walk to Times Square every day and felt very comfortable walking back to the hotel in the late hours of the evening. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay again. 17 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by owner great stay, very capable and friendly staff good breakfast 16 October 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel mit leckerem hot breakfast Das Hotel liegt zentrumsnah (ca. 20 Minuten Fußweg zum Times Sq.). 15 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location I cannot express how much we enjoyed our stay here and how wonderful everyone was that we had the privilege to deal with. You literally walk out the front door and turn left 2 blocks you are at the cruise terminal, 3 blocks and you are on the Intrepid. Turn right and walk 3 blocks and you are in the middle of Times Square and the theater district. The breakfast selection is great and the other reviews are right about breakfast being crowded but you can get boxes and take your breakfast back to your room or out on the patio out front. Don't let the construction scare you off, we experienced no problem with noise . The view was terrific. The front desk was so helpful when we arrived and they were so nice. We had a small problem with the TV and they had a friendly maintenance guy up in our room within 15 minutes and problem fixed. After a wonderful stay we walked to our cruise ship We can't wait to plan our next trip to NYC and our next stay here! 14 October 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel, with noisy neighbor Like most NYC hotels, this one is overpriced by far. But it's a great location for visiting Manhattan, an easy stroll to Times Square and environs and lots of cabs on nearby avenues. During our visit, the next-door building was being renovated and we were subjected to unbearable jackhammer noise and vibrations during the day. Evenings and nights, though, were quiet and comfortable, and the included breakfast was super. 13 October 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Average hotel Breakfast better choices than expected. Heating/cooling unit noisy and excessive airflow made sleeping difficult. I hate duvets. 05 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, well run hotel, convenient for sites Very pleased with location, cleanliness of hotel which we consider to be our priorities. 03 October 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by NYC The staff made this a pleasurable experience. The amount paid for the hotel wasn't a value, but that's what happens in NYC during UN General Assembly week. The in-room Wifi was horrible. It was very intermittent and I ended up using the Wifi hotspot on my smart phone instead. 30 September 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Girls NYC Trip Best get girls getaway ever.... Thanks to the staff. This hotel is by far one of the BEST I have stayed at. I really felt at home. The entire hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. They make a point to speak to you and ask if there is anything you need. 30 September 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mediocre Property Very disappointing for a Holiday Inn Express. I would not choose to stay at this property nor would I choose to recommend to other travelers who are seeking reasonsalbe service. Rooms are small, staff not very attentive and free breakfast is not good. Housekeeping inconsistent and front desk staff not very attentive. 28 September 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and clean room. Small but efficient room. Clean and well kept. I liked that there was a mini fridge in the room and a safe in the closet. It had an iron and ironing board, hair dryer. It was cleaned every day, fresh towels and amenities every day. Large variety of full breakfast menu. Very polite and energetic breakfast concierge. Helpful staff. 26 September 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by poor service This is the worst IHG hotel I met so far. The front desk do not bother whom you are. They said their hotel is so small that they cannot give you good service and quality. I was regret that I choose it and not others IHG hotel. Its because its near to cruise terminal. I should have pick Intercontinental Hotel which is a bit far but best quality. 23 September 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good place, good breakfast We've spent 4 nights, before leaving for a cruise. The room space (with a king size bed) is good, bathroom well equiped. Good complimentary breakfast for the USA. The location is about 3 blocks far from the Times Square. Safe neighborhood. A nice terrazo in front of the hotel, were you can read, talk and relax. 22 September 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good service Although only a 10/15 minute walk from the subway this can become a little tiring if you need to return to the hotel on a frequent basis. A little noisy in the hotel overnight did wake me most nights, but only for a short lenght of time. 22 September 2014
