Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Aging and run down - not the HIE standard I've stayed at Express brands around the world both for work and leisure - this one was by far the worst experience of any. The hotel is run down - carpets are stained and discolored throughout the common areas and rooms, room furniture stained with who-knows-what, breakfast area is a strange labyrinth of small spaces, maybe an afterthought instead of a service intentionally offered. The staff were friendly and service was otherwise ok. I stayed for a weekend visit to the city with my wife using reward points, and next time will spend an extra few thousand points to stay at a proper hotel like the Intercontinental downtown. Until they tear this place down and rebuild it, I'm not coming back. 29 March 2015

I'd liked to have little bit more variety on breakfast: fried eggs, ham, cheese, etc. now an then would be fine, specially for those of us when the visit is longer than one week. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel needs updating I have been staying at this hotel for several years. It now desperately needs an interior face-lift. Decor outdated and depressing; stained carpets, dark corridors, loud manual AC/heating system in rooms. Hotel is a little way from downtown, off the beaten track; walking around the area can seem a bit unsafe at night. Breakfast good, service average. Probably good value for the price considering free breakfast and location of the hotel as there's not much to choose from in that area of downtown Toronto. But this hotel could do with some work. 27 March 2015

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by One of the more run down Holiday Inn Express Initially walking in, the lobby was very nice so I had high expectations for the room. The room was definitely run down. The room had a musty smell even though it appeared to be clean. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and squeaky. The bathroom was also clean but the shower head must have had build up inside because when we turned it on, water shot sideways and soaked the floor. Breakfast was good but the breakfast space/buffet line was crowded and long. There was also no place to get a glass of cold water even though there was plenty of juice and milk. Overall, this hotel isn't spectacular but if you just want a clean place to crash for a night or 2, it will do fine for the money. 26 March 2015
