It is always a pleasure and the staff is what makes this hotel so special and making you feel special. 13. Dezember 2014
Rated 5,0 out of 5,0 by Best Concierge & Amazing Views--Quintessential Japan This is one of the best hotel experiences overall I've ever had. This was our inaugural visit to Japan so we were conflicted between the hustle & bustle of Tokyo versus a smaller city like Yokohama; but we were SO GLAD we stayed at this property and in Yokohama. Yokohama is beautiful, the hotel is perfectly located and close to everything with a beautiful view, and the people are amazing. Dining on premises is also great, but there's so many great dining and shopping options nearby. Yokohama is reasonably Westernized, but there are plenty of nearby sites to experience traditional Japan, and moreover, this site epitomizes Japanese hospitality at its best. The concierge made this trip for us. They spoke great English, were so incredibly helpful, and made us feel like home for anything we needed. Shoichiro was very helpful and went out of his way to get us precise directions, make reservations, and set us up with a tour of the nearby Kirin Beer Factory. Haruka had to be one of the most incredible people I've ever met. She helped us to much and made the best recommendations we could've asked for, for restaurants, sightseeing, and shopping. We even got a postcard from her when we checked out thanking us when truly she is the one that deserves all the thanks and recognition in the world. She truly made our stay outstanding. As a Platinum Ambassador member, I expect the best in my hotel stays, and Yokohama Grand's staff delivered. It was amazing from start to finish, despite that the room was a bit dated and I was a bit disappointed as I don't believe we received a room upgrade (we stayed in a King Seaview Renewal room). The view was amazing and more than made up for the firm mattress and overly soft pillows. The bathroom was also pretty dated, but the building was stunning, as was the lobby. Probably the best housekeeping staff in existence as well. I would undoubtedly stay here next time I'm in Japan and would recommend the same to anyone trying to have an amazing experience in Japan. 12. Dezember 2014

Rated 3,0 out of 5,0 by Great location but just satisfactory experience The location of the hotel was excellent as there is a great view of the Yokohama harbor and there are plenty of restaurants in the immediate area. There is a huge ferris wheel outside of the hotel that also gives a great view of the city. Now for the not so great items. Upon arrival nobody offered to help me with our bags but jumped at the opportunity for two couples in front of us. It almost felt like we were ignored upon immediate arrival. Additionally, there is an indoor pool at the hotel but due to having to pay 2700 yen per entry I decided not to use this facility. It seems a little ridiculous to charge that much to somebody that is already platinum ambassador status. Also, when attempting to go to the lobby restaurant with the 20% discount coupon we received upon arrival we were told we didn't have a reservation and the restaurant was already full for the evening. After talking with management at the lobby we were later shown to a table. What threw me off about this is that there were still plenty of empty tables in the restaurant throughout the entire meal. The buffet itself was excellent to include king crab legs. Overall the experience was satisfactory and not really worth the money spent compared to other intercontinental hotels I've stayed at. Some of the things mentioned may seem petty but this is supposed to be 5 star all the way and there are certain expectations with that. 29. November 2014
