Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good and not good We appreciate the high class service provided and well trained staff. Everything was OK except the fact that as we are in Islamic country and we are muslims we MUST not serve alcohol and ham products as these are prohibited, and disobeying ALLAH's commands will not be on your favor believe me. I advice also not to allow smoking in the lobby as this was really annoying to us and many of non-smokers. Also wearign loose clothes has to be prohibited in the open areas. thanks 01 February 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by An excellent stay in Abu Dhabi This was my first visit to Abu Dhabi but not to the UAE as I have previously been to Dubai. Based on a single night here this will not be my last experience of AUH since I thoroughly enjoyed my short time at the Intercontinental. I arrived shortly after midnight and was warmly welcomed and advised as a Royal Ambassador member that I had been allocated a suite; I asked if I could forgo this and have Club IC access in lieu, as many other properties will do. The desk clerk went off to enquire of his duty manager and returned to tell me I could have Club access but also keep the suite; that was much appreciated. After a good sleep I rose in time to take a late breakfast in the Club lounge; this provided everything I wanted and appeared to offer a wide selection of local and western dishes. Although my flight out again was late evening the Club Manager had no hesitation in inviting me to enjoy their hospitality until my car arrived. This enabled me enjoy the evening 'happy hour' and taste some of the buffet on offer which that night was being serviced by the in-house Italian restaurant and very nice it was too. The views from the Club IC balcony are excellent and enabled me to capture some lovely images of Abu Dhabi, both during the day and into the darkness of the evening. It was a delight to see just how efficient everyone at this hotel was, from the door staff through the receptionists to the Club waiters and the Club Manager who really is a credit to this hotel. As I said earlier, my first visit to AUH but certainly not my last, and when I return it will most certainly be to the Intercontinental. 28 January 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy room I stayed in this property on business for 3 nights, and had a room at the front of the hotel on a high floor, which overlooks the main road which is approx 100m from the hotel. Unfortunately the locals tend to race their large engined, very loud cars and motorbikes along this road, until about 3am each day, and the hotel rooms widows are not very good at keeping the sound out, as such my sleep wasn't good 24 January 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent in all respects I have stayed in the Intercontinental Abu Dhabi every time I have visisted the city over the last five years. It is unfailingly an excellent experience. The staff are superb - attentive, cheeful, polite, quick to respond to any request. The restaurants are excellent, the rooms elegant and comfortable, and the pool and exercise facilities as good as you could ask for. It is great value for money. My most recent stay was just as all the others have been, a very pleasant and relaxing experience. 14 January 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Holiday for New Year We stayed for a week in this hotel, having booked some winter sunshine. I've visited Dubai and i found this to be a more interesting experience. The hotel is not the prettiest building, but inside it more than makes up for it! The staff are excellent and the facilities were great. We used the pool daily and the little touches of water in ice boxes and fruit in the afternoon made us feel really special. The health club was great and we played squash lots. The beach area was a good, I'm'm sure once the building work is completed it will be even better. Thank you very much for a great stay, we will return. 12 January 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Disappointing customer service Have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions with different tour operators, as I like the hotel I decided to go for Xmas and new year this booking was room only, I enquired about the Ambassador club and was told for 200 dollars I would get various benefits including a room upgrade, my room upgrade was to a club room, this was highlighted as having access to the club lounge which served complimentary breakfast, this looked like a good deal and meant I would now have breakfast included so I paid my money and joined. When I got to the hotel I was told I was not entitled to access to the club lounge unless I paid more money, unhappy with this I asked the customer service person to look into this as the call would have been recorded this was never done and only lip service was given, I then asked them to speak to the general manager to find out what was going to be done about this, no one got back to me and I dropped it as I was not willing to waist my holiday time chasing this, It is only when you have a problem that you see how good a service is provided, unfortunately you failed 06 January 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not quite ICH Booked on ICH own web page with a good rate. Pick up from airport in a large Ford car with a large boot which got all the suitcases in, the return trip in a Mercedes we had to have two cases in the front with the driver. The Ford was the better car bigger and smother. Front of house staff were the cars pull up at 9.00pm were just great. Took my wife and myself all the way to the club check in area on the 18th floor, there is a private lift just for the upper floors and helicopter landing pad! They then brought the suitcases up to the room within minutes plus a screwdriver to fix the handle on a suitcase, top service. Check in was smooth, received the high floor as asked, also the twin beds. Room was clean and cool. Aircon worked very well with easy to use control box. Bathroom, well this room was a little worn around the edges. Damaged bath, mastic that looked like had been put on by a 6 year old and very low water pressure. As with all hotels the noise from people walking past your room if they are talking loud or just disrespectful about other guests needs when moving to their rooms does come into the rooms. The room in the mornings was well serviced but the turn down services was only done 3 times out of one weeks stay, and that as hit and miss even after a call to house keeping. For the whole stay we never received a newspaper even though the web site states a dally paper. As others have said, why oh why dos the hotel not clean the room windows. They are FILTHY.... What 5 star hotel allows this. Its been said so many times on this site you would think the hotel would act on the feedback. Now for the room key. OMG..... We had to have the room key card reactivated 9 times during our stay. The hotel said they looked at the lock after the 4th time our key cards would not work. The 8 times the cards were reactivated by the staff in the club lounge but once in the check in area at the club lounge at midday they had no staff! We were told to wait or go to main reception. One would think that a 5 star hotel would staff its club check in desk for its guest. We had to go to the main check in area in our wet swim wear in front of all these well dressed persons in the lobby area, were then asked for ID before they would reactivate the key cards, who carry's that in their swim wear, as we told them, we also told them they had no staff at the desk in the club lounge. They did reactivate the cards but with no apology at all and no customer service skills. Talk about being embarrassed. My wife and I just wanted the floor to open up what with all the other guest in the check in area. For our inconvenience from this 5 star hotels lack of staff a bottle of red wine was left in our room. My wife does not drink and I don't drink wine, we left it at the hotel on check out. How poor is that service? Why not just have a good old fashion key, just like people have had for the passed few hundred years. The club lounge. While we were staying all week it had babies and children in it. Crying babies, children picking food off the counter uncontrolled by adults. Not the type of club lounge I would recommend if you are looking for a quite relaxing time which is a shame. Pool area. Every time we left the sun lounge's the staff took away the towels even when you went in the spa or pool. Why? Their parasols have seen better days also. The beach area was good to walk along in the evenings but it looks like the water does not move a lot as it had a "raw" smell to it, could be due to the new islands which have been built. All week in the spa area the sauna was out of action. Does it take that long to fix. Looked like it had been out of action for quite a while. Over all the staff were very good, the hotel try's very hard to be a top 5 star place but there are to many little problems to says its up there with the other 5 star Abu Dhabi hotels so unless we were to get a good rate again when we are back in Abu Dhabi which is often we may well look for some other hotel. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Best concierge Old Hotel but still having it's place in the spot light in Abu Dhabi, they actually have the best Concierge team, best and worst reception team according to your check in check out time. I would only recommend a stay there if the rate is really going down, if not, I advice to book a stay in the new 5 stars hotels in town, much better service and quality with the same prices. 04 December 2013

I sought pain relief with massage, and was positively suprised with the quality and professionalism of the young Thai lady who administered the therapy. I went for a second session and the quality of the therapy was even better than the first time, with the same therapist. I have had physiotherapy done many times before and went through many hours of massage all over the world. The quality and impact of the therapy I received here were much better here than anywhere else. Thank you 23 November 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beach hours too restrictive I went to the hotel beach to find out that no one's allowed to swim after 17:35 and it was 17:38! A bit too much of a restriction. There were three lifeguards waiting on me to make sure I really didn't swim while I spent a short amount of time taking photo's! Ridiculous. 21 November 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Smells like smoke the moment you walk in This hotel allows smoking in the lobby lounge and it smells like smoke the moment you walk through the doors. It is not pleasant and for this reason alone I would not recommend this hotel. Also the walls in the rooms are paper thin and I was woken up in the middle of the night by the TV in the room next to me because it was so loud. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast buffet was great. The staff at times seemed confused and not sure about things, but they were very friendly and took care of everything. For me the smoking was a huge issue and the quality of sleep due to noise from neighboring rooms. Good location and good restaurants. 20 November 2013

My other colleague who is a privileged member had to intervene and then the hotel staff allowed late check =out upto 5 pm, though I managed to reach hotel from city within 4 pm for the flight at 8 pm. Nevertheless, despite my repeated requests, the denial of late check out as a special case left a bad taste in me and the staff was quoting rules of the hotel like a parrot. No one wants the hotel not to adhere to rules but there are exceptions depending on the merits of the case where hotels bend backward to please the customer. 19 November 2013

As an Ambassador member, upon my arrival they upgrated me in a fantastic Suite on 5th floor, facing on the Marina and on the city. This super luxury room was really one of the best rooms I ever stayed, making our stay comfortable, relaxing and memorable. Breakfast served on the Selections restaurant, near the pool on the 3rd floor, was superb with a lot of mediterranean, arabic and asiatic foods. We ate also at the Yacht Club restaurant facing the Marina, and at the Fishmarket on the private beach. All dinners we ate at these restaurants were superb regarding the quality of foods, the entire ambient and the service. Every night we visited the outdoor patio of Chamas bar for an after dinner drink and shisha smoking, in a very relaxing ambient facing the Marina. Lobby Lounge on ground floor was very beautiful for a coffee or a pre- or after dinner drink, with live music in the evenings. The hotel had its own private beach, plenty of sunbeds, very good for swimming in the calm, hot waters of the gulf. Finally, all staff in every part of the hotel was well trained, helpful and polite. All in all, we had a wonderful stay in an excellent hotel from all points of view, above our expectations. In our next visit to the beautiful city of Abu Dhabi we stay there again. My last stay I hope to forget fast, and hope incidents due to being fully occupied with F1 the week ahead. While returning AD today, to close to last, so decided to check out one of the many new hotels. Being recognised at my member level being proudly told I've been upgraded, for then checking into a room on the 10th floor only being partly furnished. No armchair, foot rest. I point out to the guy checking me in, only to have to repeat myself over again to another receptionist, asking if I want a chair. I walked away, and told them to forget the whole issue. Then started the calls to my room over the stupid chair which was put in the next day. At the 5th call, I told the person that I don't want more calls about the stupid chair, and that I leave it to the hotel to decide what level they want their upgraded rooms appear like. Didn't mention anywhere that it took them 3 days to put in the fruit plate they proudly announce being gift to members. I get excellent service at the outlets as several employees know me by name. Being on the 10th floor, right over the entrance, being woken up by honking cars, and screaming party goers at 3.30 am taking more than an hour to quite out is another annoyance. This is a repeated issue over several years, and not nice. Despite this, I'll probably return, but tonight, it's to close to last weeks ordeal, I'll check out the competition this time. 12 November 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by House keeping 1-Room was not tidy when I checked in It suppose to be a king room but it was a twin bed and put in a king bed set up therefore the room was totally un tidy with most of the furniture not in place due to the added bed !! Which was not my requirement !! 2- my room was not cleaned till 4 pm when I came back from work also I was hanging the sign of (please make my room ) !! I had to go down to tell reception about it !!! 06 November 2013

The food was poor and not tasty. We had a bad night because of a lot of the noise coming from people outside of the hotel ( maybe dancing). We went to intercontinental many times before. The pool and the beach were not finished and nobody told us... 04 November 2013
