My wife and I just got back from a 5-year anniversary trip to he Le Moana resort. We went there on our honeymoon and chose to come right back to this one because it was so amazing and I liked it much better than several of the other larger resorts in Bora Bora.
The resort is just big enough to have a fun bar and a nice restaurant but not so big that you are just one of 300 people there. This is shown by the staff members who take the time to remember your name and use it when speaking to you without having to look it up.
The beach is clean every morning, and there is the perfect balance of coral and sand. This means you have plenty of coral under each bungalow to keep colorful fish living there, but not so much that you have to worry about avoiding it while snorkeling or swimming under the bungalows or anywhere in the lagoon. The entire property is surrounded by crystal clear 3-foot lagoon area with warm water that is great to swim in, even at 6:00 AM (which we did!).
The hotel restaurant and bar serve the same foods you will find at local restaurants at prices that often beat the locals. The pizzas are delicious and you can get a large for $15-20 US.
The bungalows are clean and authentic, with just the right amount of A/C which is important because there is an on/off switch but no thermostat. The bungalows have 2 walls with slatted blind-type walls that you can open up if you desire to let the ocean breeze blow right through. You can shut the curtains and doors and be totally private, or open up everything and let the ocean and nature surround you on all sides.
The concierge staff is super nice and accommodating, and will help you book all of your activities if you want to go scuba diving, helmet diving, or other excursions such as renting a boat or going on a 4X4 safari up into the mountain areas. There is a small grocery store within a 5-min walk that we went to a few times to get snacks and sodas for the in-room fridge.
Every morning involved a walk down the boardwalk to the breakfast buffet at the hotel, which was amazing because you can see fish and stingrays very easily. What a way to start the day!
My wife and I had a great week in paradise last week. The most painful thing about this resort is having to leave it.

The Intercontinetal Bora bora was the perfect choice for celebrating my husbands 50th birthday. Truly an AMAZING locale, first class hotel and beaucoup choice of activities, but it was truly the staff that raised the bar for us. They catered to us in such a gentle, sweet, energizing way that we felt so blessed. Each one greeted us so warmly and we felt like we had to leave dear friends at the end. We meet others on Moorea before arriving who stayed at other hotels and even the other intercontienal hotel on Bora Bora, that ended up at the Le Moana every day because it was so supreme. Cheers to the best staff and hotel Ever created and We've traveled ALOT!

The only downside is that they charge for the shuttle to the town.

This was the best hotel on our honeymoon!
We loved the personal service we received from Lellani and Lawrence (General Manager). They took the time to remember our names and greet us at every opportunity. We received a personal tour of the grounds upon arrival and just loved the treatment from all the staff. Overwater bungalow was incredible. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner was amazing at the hotel. Would highly recommend Le Moana to EVERYBODY!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Katmo Great Location on Island of Bora Bora
Good value for over water bungalows in Bora Bora. Situated on the island as opposed to the various motu where many other properties are located. Large bungalows. Could use some updates. Very beautiful and peaceful surroundings on this gorgeous island. It is a long walk from the bungalows toward the end to the beach/restaurants. Complimentary kayaks, paddle boards, etc...which is fantastic. Close to fantastic snorkeling, stores, restaurants.

Went to the InterContinental Le Moana Bora Bora for our honey moon. Booked a 5 night stay and went over to the Thalasso for a Spa day. Incredible experience at Le Moana. The hotel is very well located in the main island, the overwater bungalows have great views, facilities are welcoming and well kept, our room was comfortable and fresh, and all staff was very attentive and helpful from check-in to the minute of departure...Overall, a truly memorable trip.

A very relaxing hotel and the staff were always willing to help. We were upgraded to an horizon room which was really appreciated. Breakfast was adequate but not enough variety of cooked food. A quieter resort than partner hotel which we really liked. it would have been great if there had been a gym to use instead of having to go to the partner hotel which was 15 mins by boat.
i would definitely recommend this hotel. Staff were great, Ambiance peaceful and a well maintained property even though it is older resort.
