Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay The service was good, the check-in was fast and the sleep was amazing. Went to Michael Jordan's Resturant, food was fabulous. Our waitress was great! It was our 37th year anniversary and we could have stayed anywhere with us living in Chicago, but the special promotions the hotel had , made it an easy decision. Will return. 05 July 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not Up To Your Previous Standards The Intercontinental Chicago Magnificent Mile is perhaps my favorite hotel in Chicago and has been for many years. Unfortunately, ths stay was a a bit of a disappointment. Although checked in promptly upon arrival and presumably given an upgraded room, once in our room and unpacked, the service was definitely not up to what i have come to expect from the hotel. The most disappointing aspect was that on at least three separate occasions, in trying to call the one touch service niumber to request such routine things as asking Housekeeping to make up our room or request basic informmation, we were either placed on Hold, not to be answered for more that 15 minutes over multiple attempts at redialing, or the phone line rang and nobody picked up - ever! This is not up to the standard of a hotel that has been a valued place to stat for me for more years than i can count. Clearly the service has slipped since my previous stay. As i have many fond memories of this hotel, I implorr the hotel management to do better. 03 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service, Great location, Enjoyable experience. We enjoyed the view of the city from our upper level room window. The hotel is in walking distance of Millennium Park, Navy Pier, River Boat Tours, shopping and restaurants. Hotel staff very polite. When we encountered a minor issue in our room, Ms. D. Ortega from housekeeping handled our concern immediately and was helpful beyond our expectations. We look forward to staying again at Intercontinental Hotel & Resorts in Chicago. 03 July 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing stay We stayed here for a getaway for a weekend night and were disappointed as we usually love Intercontinental hotels. They granted our request for a "large" room as we were traveling with our baby but it was still cramped! It was also very old style in bad need of updating and not worth the $200+ we paid, The TV was so small and in one side of the room - not facing the bed! We asked for something more modern but were told we would have to pay upgrade fee. The view was not too great. The air conditioning did not work well on a hot day even though we set it to 66 (at home we keep it at 75). It was noisy even though we were on a high floor - you can hear sirens all night. The staff was very nice though.. 02 July 2014

Dinner at Michael Jordan's was the best and I wish I knew how to make the garlic bread sauce they use. Beds are very comfortable and staff very accommodating. We will definitely go back. 01 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The best in Chicago From the moment Vince the bellman took out five bags, we felt totally at home at the Intercontinental. Thank you so much for upgrading us without asking. Your staff is the best. Your hotel is wonderful. And the view from the 38th floor is to die for. Oh, and did I mention the pool? An absolute classic. Don't change a thing. The parking attendant made it easy to valet my car on what is a very busy street - he was timely and there was an offer to assist with bags, but he was not pushy about it. More than one person at the front desk welcomed me back and even greeted me by name. I was asked if there was anything else I needed before I was given my key; while that is not unusual,the big smiles from the front desk made it memorable. The Supervisor also came around the desk and shook my hand. The room was fantastic - clean, bright, spacious, and the amenities were high quality (Kleenex, bottles of water, towels, etc.). Later when I passed through the lobby Malcolm saw me and greeted me by name. He didn't have to stop what he was doing, but he took the time to come greet me and confirmed I was enjoying my stay. I knew his offer to let him know if I needed anything was sincere. The property itself (room, Starbucks in lobby, outstanding gym/pool) all contributed to a great experience, but the top notch service is really what distinguished this experience from others. 28 June 2014

Locating the entrance to the Hotel was also a challenge- Check in was outstanding- noting our frustration the staff member offered us complimentary late check out and a complimentary room upgrade. Her empathy turned the mood dramatically- was a day saver- Rooms in the Historic tower are on the small side to be expected in a property of this vintage- Bed was very comfortable, room nicely finished and very clean- Overall the experience was quite positive- I suggest saving money - you can self park near the hotel for $42 for 24 hours compared to valet in/iout for $65 plus tax- 26 June 2014

I have never been to Chicago so I wanted to stay somewhere central so I didn't have to worry about taking a million cabs to see everything and this hotel did that. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent hotel choice in downtown Chicago This is the second time visiting Chicago and first time at a hotel along the Magnificient Miles. The hotel is centrally located to all the nice shopping areas. The food court inside Nordstrom had great manago ice cream to offer. There are also many rstaurants around. Me and my children went to the Navy Pier for the Wed night firework, which made this trip extra special. I recommend this hotel to anyone who will be visiting Chicago and I'll be back again. 25 June 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't live up to past experiences I have stayed at this property several times. Overall its a great hotel, however this time it didn't hold up to its reputation. I had trouble with my rate at the front desk which took much more effort that I expected to get rectified. I am an InterContinental Ambassador and my status wasn't recognized at check-in. In addition, I had to call and remind them I was supposed to receive a welcome gift. The bathroom needed some help as the shower leaked all over the floor but to their credit, someone responded quickly and did their best to repair it. I called to report the issues listed above to the manager and left a detailed voicemail. The only response I received was from a duty supervisor stating that I needed to call them back and go over the issues again. No one tried to contact me again. I will probably stay in this hotel again when I visit Chicago as it is a good hotel overall. I'm hoping these were isolated incidents and not the norm. 24 June 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Stay I was in Chicago on business. This was a very comfortable stay. So much I want to bring my wife back to visit! Everything was perfect. The room was perfect, the service was delightful. Great value for the money. The location was the center of the town. The whole staff always had a smile and were looking out for your best interest! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Room and bed fine, AC flaky Room and bed were perfectly fine. Air conditioning worked when it felt like it, making one of my two nights very uncomfortable. Of course it worked again when I fiddled with it in the morning. Front desk seemed only marginally interested and barely apologized. Unlikely to stay here again. 24 June 2014

Internet wasnt working, could not be fixed, dirty floors, broken lamps, long wait for luggage. The rooms need urgent tlc. Breakfast room is not inviting and dark. 23 June 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mixed Review Here As a recent ambassador, I have to admit, I was very disappointed with my first stay here. I called ahead to verify my room upgrade and let me say there is a BIG difference between the people on the phone and the people at the hotel. First of all, the person on the phone flat out lied to me that i had been given a room upgrade. Also, when I inquired about if why I had been given a double instead of a King as requested, he responded with "we assumed with 2 guys you would have wanted a double". Very bothersome. I also wanted to make sure the rest of the amenities were provided as we wanted this to be a special weekend and no, they weren't until I asked them a few times. On the phone they just made up an answer that I would get them by 6pm.. The hotel staff after the first bad night finally was able to accommodate in a better room the 2nd night, but I have to say, the ambassador service here is severely lacking. And calling the phone service is totally useless. 23 June 2014

Staff was extremely helpful and kind especially in the Continental Room for Breakfast.All food was excellent in all resturants. They made it so easy with children and family meeting. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 The 'historic' part of this hotel is old and ancient. Although the room was very spacious, the entire floor and room smelled old and mildew. It had old outdated decor and when I asked to be put on the newer side of the hotel, I was told that the rooms were smaller and there were no king beds available. When one hears the name Intercontinental, one has the expectation of accommodations that will be modern, with excellent service and amenities. I will say that the mattress was very comfortable. 23 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent hotel with top notch location I was stuck with a cancelled flight at Ohare at 1am, so I decided to go back downtown. I've stayed at this hotel 10 or so times in the last couple years and never had any issues. Same experience at 2am...they offered a late check out (I hadn't asked for it) and I appreciated the offer the following day. Occasionally the checkin line backs up a bit because the hotel does host conferences, but checkout is automatic (just drop your key in a box). Luggage storage and retrieval services are quick, taxis easy to find just out the front door. The location is top notch for walking around downtown chicago. And they give a starbucks coffee coupon (starbucks is in the building) at checkin. The restaurants and wine bar are always packed in the late afternoons and evenings. I've always found the rooms to my liking with all of them having either a lounge chair or loveseat. Room service and the restaurants are central chicago priced (relatively high) but there are many less expensive eating choices within several blocks. So finding food at any price point is easy to do. There is a walgreens across the street and ATM's close by. Nordstrom's is a couple blocks away. The beds and pillows are upper end for this room price range. 22 June 2014
