BIENVENIDO A Berlin

We are pleased to welcome you to InterContinental Berlin. The German capital city where east meets west and modern meets classic. My concierge team and I are looking forward to giving you an unforgettable Berlin experience.

INNOVATIVE BUSINESS HOTEL IN THE CITY CENTRE The InterContinental Berlin has struck an impressive pose on the city skyline since 1958. A better location is hard to imagine— the government quarter, world-famous Potsdamer Platz and Kurfürstendamm Boulevard are just around the corner. The Reichstag and Memorial Church are within wilking distance. The InterContinental Berlin is your perfect base for the exploration of Berlin.

CÓMO LLEGAR AL HOTEL

UN DÍA PERFECTO

MAÑANA

Berlin Underworlds. Almost 40 percent of the buildings in the city centre are situated underground holding secrets of old brewery cellars, the pneumatic post and bunker system. Experience Berlin´s underground bunker and shelter constructions. Afterwards you can enjoy a freshly prepared hot chocolate in the incomparable ambience of the chocolate house Fassbender and Rausch at Gendarmenmarkt.

TARDE

Topography of Terror. The majority of NS-regime crimes were planned and directed at the center of these present-day sites. Here the central institutions of Nazi persecution and terror - Secret State Police, the leadership of the SS and the Reich Security Main Office - were located. Partially destroyed during the war, rendered unrecognizable after the war by demolition and conversion and eventually forgotten, this historic site was rediscovered in the early 1980s and gradually reestablished in the historical memory of Berlin and the Federal Republic of Germany. What had been a partial wasteland in the shadow of the Berlin wall was ultimately transformed into a center for the documentation of Nazi crimes.

NOCHE

Show Palace. Welcome to the East End. The Broadway of Berlin and the city´s hip nightlife mile. It stretches from Unter den Linden along Friedrichstrasse to Hackescher Markt. And in the middle you will find the Show Palace - Europe´s biggest theatre. The Show Place attracts its visitors with magnificent revue shows. The modern shows are filled with the most modern aesthetic aspects and brand new high-tech effects. At the moment the performance -Show Me- is held at the Show Palace.

CONSEJOS DE UN EXPERTO

CULTURA LOCAL

Potsdam Square

The Potsdamer Platz is an important square and a traffic intersection in the centre of the capital. It was the largest building site in Europe before completion and is now the new heart of Berlin.

Island of Museums

The Museumsinsel is a unique ensemble of museum buildings that illustrate the evolution of modern museum design over more than a century.

Art vs. Rum

The design for the Neue Nationalgallerie was originally intended for the Bacardi Rum headquarters in Cuba, but because of the Cuban Revolution in 1958 it ended up in Berlin.

Tipping

You should normally tip about 5 to 10 percent in restaurants.

¿SABÍA QUÉ? ?

Big City

The German capital is almost 9 times as large as Paris.

Bridges in Berlin

Note the bridgework the city has to offer; Berlin has more bridges than Venice.

City of Culture

Berlin's vibrant cultural scene has a lot to offer. There are over 170 museums and collections, 300 galleries and numerous special exhibitions and festivals. Three internationally renowned opera houses, a federal ballet, seven symphony orchestras, 15 chamber orchestras and about 850 choirs wait to be discovered. Musical theatres, federal as well as private stages, continue the capital's long theatrical history. Entertainment and arts are as exciting as they are diverse.

Panoramic Lift Postdamer Platz

At the Kollhoff-Haus on Potsdamer Platz one can get a fantastic view of the bustling city by taking Europe's fastest lift to the rooftop for just some Euros.

Peacock Island

Peacock Island (with real peacocks) and Glienicke Palace - the embodiment of Prince Carl's Italophilia - is part of the area designated by the UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site.

QUÉ METER EN LA MALETA

Euros

Exchange some money, just enough to cover airport incidentals and transportation to the hotel, before you leave home, so you can avoid unpleasant queues at the airport ATMs.

Insurance

You should have international insurance when visiting Germany, especially if you're planning to drive.

Variety of clothing

Bring a wide variety of clothing. Berlin is an equivalent to diversity. With 1,500 events daily you might feel like a spontaneous change of mind and you might want to be able to dress accordingly!
