A hotel with a pleasant, unique vibe.

The room, overall, was excellent. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom. I enjoyed the walking shower and the fact that in addition to the standard showerhead, it had a handheld showerhead which was very nice. Water temperature and pressure was good. Air-conditioning worked well.
In the lobby, I appreciated the automated coffee machine and the fact that coffee was available 24/7. I enjoyed having dinner at the bar several times during my six-night stay.



It would be nice to have a place to store my underwear, socks and t-shirts. No dresser in the room. I had to just place those clothes on a shelf in the room.
More small snack sized selections at the bar would be nice. Something like mozzarella sticks, pot stickers or egg rolls to nibble on would be nice.

EVEN, but Somewhat Odd

We liked the Even concept. Front desk staff were personable and helpful. The ground floor 'lobby' area had good energy and a congenial mix of guests. THIS IS A DOG FRIENDLY hotel. The room attendent left much to be desired through inconsistent attention to room refresh and by leaving our room unsecured.

Not up to its own basic standards.

Gym needs to be cleaned (equipment). Wipes need to be refilled regularly. Plastic cups need to be available for water dispenser. Needs better management.

Needs management attention

Management, cleanliness and attention to detail was far below what I have come to expect from my 30 years of staying in IHG properties worldwide. Staff was lackadaisical and unresponsive. Whoever stayed in the room opposite mine would leave a trash bin full outside their door, and it would stay there for over 24 hours. This meant either no staff were walking the hotel, or they saw the bin and decided it was not their job to deal with it. This is a small bar in the lobby area, and it is directly adjacent to the path to the elevators and additional seating area. EACH night we were there two guys sat drinking and speaking very loudly (the staff acknowledged this), but when I suggested someone simply ask them to tone it down the front desk (and bartender) shrugged with a "nothing we can do" attitude. I needed to extend our stay one night and I was told "we are full, nothing I can do." I went to the room, pulled up the ihg site and booked the additional rooms in 5 minutes. In my mind this was simply an attempt to not have to do the work, and that is not a benefit to customers. With my status I have often been greeted with "Thank you for being a Platinum Member" - not at this hotel. I have often been told "we will upgrade you to a _____ room." (I quickly turn down the offer, as all I want is a clean room with a good bed and shower and good wifi - don't need more room!)
Normally I would have asked to speak to the manager on departure, just to pass along these observations. In this case I did not have the time, and while I fully appreciate there is a lot I do not see when staying at a hotel, but sense was there were no personnel with any experience and thus I would have been telling my comments to folks who might not have any idea what to do to improve things.
I am not sure why major hotel brands are so anxious to create new sub-brands, but I would caution that the worst brand in the pack will not preserve the reputation of the best.

Use Caution in the Shower

The shower floors are extremely slippery and there are no anti-skid measures in place. Either wear shower shoes or use one of the hand towels to stand on. Housekeeping staff was oblivious to the fact the coffee pods were both used the first day, never refilled. Coffee bar in the lobby was always either missing creamers, cup lids, or cup sleeves (sometimes a combination). Not impressed overall. Best parts were free parking, reliable Wi-Fi and easy access to the Merritt7 train station.

Sad excuse for a travel stop

So many issues including dragging bags up narrow stairs. No elevator working. High pitch noise from ventilation. Breakfast person no show and no back up. All together a bad place to stop. Wish I had just asked for a refund and gone elsewhere

I feel the management could be better and more accommodating but wasn’t and I called so much got tired of being ignored and not handled in the correct way possibly

Overbooked

Despite my family and I reserving three rooms weeks in advance, upon our arrival there were not enough rooms available. My sister’s reservation was not honored. We were told the hotel was overbooked. There were no other hotels with availably in the area. My sister was left without any other option but to sleep on the floor of my room. There were no cots and she was given a single comforter to sleep with on the floor. Do not stay here.

I am in a unique situation because I am in-between moving which is always stressful. The hotel has lowered my anxiety twofold. Your accommodations have been impeccable and aided my bridge between past & future residences. The collateral value is the staff who are extremely knowledgeable, kind and helpful. Thank you for making me feel welcome.

Hotel offerings do not match website

It was very clean, I will say that! Reserved a room with 2 queen beds, when we checked in they were double beds, when I inquired, front desk staff stated that there were no queen beds at this property…ok….website stated hotel had a restaurant complete with a menu, when downstairs to ask where the restaurant was and was told that there was no restaurant on premises???? She confirmed that the website “listed a lot of things that we don’t have”. Ok….the weirdest thing however was the room and how the door to the bathroom faced the beds and had a frosted glass door…every time you put the light on in the bathroom, the entire room was illuminated…so if anyone needed to use the restroom during the night, all other guests were woken up!!! Plus since it had a glass door, the outline of the person using the bathroom was on full display!

Nice hotel, recently renovated, with attractive common areas and friendly staff. Would gladly stay again. Only negative was a loud fan in the through-the-wall A/C unit, which we reported.
