The Phoenix Zoo opened in 1962 and is the largest privately owned, non-profit zoo in the United States. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, the zoo was founded by Robert Maytag, a member of the Maytag family, and operates on 125 acres of land in the Papago Park area of Phoenix. It has been designated as a Phoenix Point of Pride.

Nestled amid the red buttes of Papago Park, the Desert Botanical Garden hosts one of the world’s finest collections of desert plants. The Herberger Theater Center was conceived as a pivotal piece in the redevelopment and revitalization of downtown Phoenix. Built in 1989 to support and foster the growth of performing arts in Phoenix as a performance venue and arts incubator, the Herberger Theater Center has contributed to the cultural and educational development of the Valley. Each year, approximately 175,000 patrons, including 30,000 school-aged children share the unique experience of live performing arts.

After 12 years, $14 million and an incredible amount of perseverance, the historic Orpheum Theatre has been renovated for "adaptive reuse," restoring as much of its visible splendor as possible, while retrofitting it as a modern theatre capable of handling anything Broadway sends its way.
