The well-preserved Georgian architecture of Grey Street in Grainger Town has inspired writers and artists since the 1830s and is lined with bustling shops and restaurants. On the Quayside, don't miss the timber-fronted buildings opposite the Guildhall, or the tilting, eye-shaped Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
Newcastle United is one of the best-supported teams in the Premier League. The atmosphere at St. James' Park stadium, 20 minutes' walk from the hotel, is electric on match days. You can book the stadium tour package to get behind the scenes. Antony Gormley's iconic Angel of the North, a huge steel structure standing on top of Low Fell overlooking the A1, is a six-mile drive away.
One of the best ways to take in Newcastle's many highlights is with a cruise along the River Tyne. Boats depart regularly from the Quayside – 25 minutes on foot from the hotel – and take in the shipyards of Tyneside, Tynemouth Castle and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. Keep an eye out for seals or dolphins around the piers.
Experience Newcastle's legendary nightlife scene and join partygoers at the Quayside. Half an hour's walk from the hotel, it's lined with buzzing bars, restaurants and clubs. At intu Eldon Square city-centre shopping mall, only a short drive from the hotel, even the most reluctant shoppers can find something among the international brands and high-street favourites.
