Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore near Keystone, South Dakota, in the United States. Sculpted by Gutzon Borglum and later by his son Lincoln Borglum, Mount Rushmore features 60-foot (18 m) sculptures of the heads of former United States presidents (in order from left to right) George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

The mountain-sized statue is as long as a cruise ship and taller than a 60-story skyscraper! Memorial includes a visitor's complex with viewing veranda, educational displays and a full-service restaurant; Indian Museum of North America; Native American Educational and Cultural Center; and Ziolkowski's log home and studio. This is a guided tour that takes about 1 hour. You are taken via bus through the city of Lead then up to the Homestake surface operation. You get off the bus 2 times to go inside the different facilities of the operation that are located on the surface. Tour takes you from 1976 to the future of science. One of the world's longest and most complex caves and 28,295 acres of mixed-grass prairie, ponderosa pine forest, and associated wildlife are the main features of the park. The cave is well known for its outstanding display of boxwork, an unusual cave formation composed of thin calcite fins resembling honeycombs. The park's mixed-grass prairie is one of the few remaining and is home to native wildlife such as bison, elk, pronghorn, mule deer, coyotes, and prairie dogs. Open year around.
