Anthropology Museum Palacio Canton

The museum occupies a building of the early twentieth century. The architecture of the mansion is of the eclectic style known as Beaux Arts, which prevailed in the Europe of the Belle Epoque and in the Mexico of the Porfiriato. It is believed that the original plans were drawn by the Italian architect Enrico Deserti and that the Yucatec engineer and architect Manuel G. Cantón was in charge of the construction. General Francisco Cantón, governor of Yucatán, lived there until his death.

Museum Casa de la Cultura Casa Montejo

The House of Montejo, built between 1542 and 1549 by orders of Don Francisco de Montejo, conqueror of the Yucatan Peninsula, is one of the very few examples that exist in the American continent of civil constructions of the Renaissance style known as Plateresque.
