Visit the complex and walk on the ancient pavements of one of the best preserved Roman Remains in the world. The Roman Baths were constructed around 70AD as a grand place to socialise and bathe in the natural warm spring waters which are found beneath the city, 1,170,000 litres of steaming spring water reaching 46 °C still fill the bathing site every single day. Other chambers to explore include the remains of the ancient heated rooms and changing rooms as well as tepid pools and plunge pools.

Magnificent stained glass windows, columns of honey-gold stone and some of the finest fan vaulting in the world, create an extraordinary experience of light and space. There has been a place of Christian worship on this site for over 1,200 years. Since 757 AD, three different churches have occupied the site of today’s Abbey and the Abbey remains very much a living church today with services taking place throughout the entire week.

The Centre is set in a classically decorated Georgian town house, offering a snapshot of what it would be like to live in the Regency times. Built between 1767-1774 to the designs of John Wood the younger, No I was the first house to be built in the Royal crescent. The town house now offers an insight to the life of Georgian Bath. View the superbly appointed Dining Room, elegant Drawing Room and The Gentleman’s Retreat. Upstairs are a Gentleman’s and a Lady’s bedroom and below stairs are the original kitchen and scullery, servant’s corridors and Servants' Hall. Guides in every room bring the house to life with stories of the past.
