The festival, held annually in February, originated as a spring festival celebrating the Chinese New Year and has since become a winter tradition in Nagasaki. The city center is adorned with around 15,000 lanterns and various decorations that envelop Nagasaki in a vibrant kaleidoscope of colors.

In the Minamiyamate area, where three nationally designated important cultural properties, including the former Glover and Ringer residences, stand, six Meiji-era Western-style houses that were scattered throughout the city have been relocated and restored. The park is adorned with flowers throughout the seasons, and cobblestone paths and stone steps reminiscent of the settlement era evoke a sense of history and culture.

This area ranks as one of Japan's three major Chinatowns, alongside Yokohama and Kobe. In addition to restaurants offering Nagasaki specialties such as "Champon" and "Sara Udon," you'll find shops selling Chinese sweets and miscellaneous goods.

A landmark in Nagasaki City, this popular spot boasts stunning night views. The night view created by the unique terrain surrounded by mountains around Nagasaki Port is known as the "Ten Million Dollar Night View" and has been selected as one of the "New Three Major Night Views of the World."
