The Avid hotel was in a great location--close to the highways and points of interest. It was clean and well-kept. My only wish was for more options at breakfast, but what they had was very good still.
Adequate if you travel light - I don't.

I’m driving cross-country with my dog and a lot of baggage I don’t feel safe leaving in the car. I’ve stayed at multiple IHG hotels this trip - 90% of them excellent. This Avid, unfortunately, was not.
Avid hotels are known for being minimal, which I respect. I’ve stayed at another and liked it. But I’ve learned they’re not all the same - and this one missed the mark.
Check-in: The lobby was chaotic. The pool was closed, and the hotel allowed guests (including children) to hang out in the lobby, which made the space extremely loud and overstimulating - for me and my dog after a long day on the road. The front desk associate was kind and put me on the second floor for my dog's sake, which I appreciated, but she was also training someone, so the process took longer.
The room: It was the smallest of my trip. Not a deal-breaker, but I was placed next to loud guests despite being told it was a “quiet corner.” Odd choice.
Luggage carts: The carts are small, awkward, and unstable. I had to make multiple trips with heavy luggage. What bothered me most was that the young man at the front desk saw me clearly struggling and did nothing to help - just watched. One woman guest eventually helped, and I was grateful, even if I felt judged.
Check-out: 6:30am - It was pouring rain. There’s no overhang at the entrance, so I got soaked loading my car. Again, another male employee stood inside watching me. When I came in to grab more luggage, he asked if I was checking out multiple times, seemingly more concerned about logging my departure than assisting. Only after I was already done did he offer to help, which felt performative.
Other notes: Parking was safe and visible from my window. That’s a plus when traveling with a fully loaded car and out-of-state plates.
Ultimately, it wasn’t the minimalism - it was the lack of hospitality. Everyone was polite, but passive. After five days on the road, I needed a little empathy and a working luggage cart. Next time, I’ll stay elsewhere in Columbus area.
Great cost-benefit hotel experience

Overall it is a great hotel that I have booked for the last three years for the annual Columbus regatta. The hotel is in a great location for accessibility, has very good and clean rooms, the staff is very friendly and the availability of amenities makes it a little cozy. Recommended.

Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Market was very well stocked. Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Just bring some painters tape to cover the thermostat light (no way to dim it and lit up the room for someone who likes it dark). Nice little breakfast options.

We stayed for a weekend and it was fantastic! The staff was very kind and knowledgeable. Extremely easy check-in/check-out process and very affordable stay.

The positive: Staff was friendly and its close to a lot of things like shopping, food, highway access.
The negative: The bed was extremly flat. I tossed all night. The controls on the wall mounted thermostat were hard to use. The backlight stayed on, causing an overbearing "nightlight" when we were trying to sleep. My wife somehow changed the settings to Celsius which was a pain to switch back and we set our room to 68 before we tried to sleep and our room never got below 70.
My wife was running the Nationwide Children's Columbus Marathon the next morning and the poor quality of sleep took its toll on the both of us.
Side note: I wasn't told what time breakfast was but when I normally stay at an IHG its either 6am-9am or 6:30am-9:30am... Either way, we left at 6:45am and there were no hot options for breakfast. Muffins, bananas and apples were available. Very disappointed we couldn't grab breakfast before leaving.

非常に小さい客室ですが、指定させていただきます。コーヒーメーカーがないため、ロビーに行く必要があります。床はほうきで清掃するため、汚れが確認されます。
スタッフはとてもフレンドリーでした。

自宅の電源に問題があったため、少し近くにあるペット可のホテルを探す必要がありました。フロントオフィスマネージャーとセカンドシフトのScott はとても温かく迎えてくれて、2 日間しっかりと話しかけてくれました。スコットは、愛犬のエリにも、初めての場所で緊張しましたが、いっぱいの愛を示しました。
