Poor Service, Hotel old

Arrived at 17:00, room not ready.
Went for dinner, returned at 18:30, room still not ready.
Staff at reception didnt seem to care much. Manager was not available. While I tried to check-in, numerous other guest complained about different things not working.
Room itself was decent, hotel is old and needs some renovation.
Breakfast was poor, many plates emtpy.
The management of this hotel needs change!

The location of the hotel was excellent, with easy access to key attractions and transport options. However, my stay was far from comfortable due to the presence of too many mosquitoes in the room. Despite raising the issue multiple times with the staff, no concrete action was taken to resolve it. This made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. While the hotel has great potential, better pest control and a more proactive approach to guest concerns are definitely needed.

Great space and location ( although path to the beach needs to be clear and marked) but a terrible lack of staff both in numbers and experience, and the hotel needs urgent refurbishing and better food. Very disappointed with the kids program or the lack of comparing to other places was one of the main reasons I have booked this one. we have seen the mascote - elephant - once in 13 days for 5 minutes.

The hotel is old, the rooms are dingy, the beds were uncomfortable, I experienced poor service and it’s across the street from the beach, not beachfront. The price was expensive for the value. Prices for food and tours and spa services are high too. Many of the staff were inattentive and/or rude. I often stay at IHG properties, I wasn’t expecting luxury just, clean safe, affordable and welcoming. I was disappointed this time.
Unhappy with King Suite

We booked the king suite for a family of 5. All 5 people were listed in the booking details.
Check in took a long time and they struggled to find the paper work despite us confirming our booking only 2 days prior.
Once we got to the room we found only 1 bed (king) made up and only 2 towels.
We spoke to reception and after an hour and many conversations we were able to get the children’s beds made up. We were also told there would be additional costs for this.
The following day we had run out of toilet paper. This took 3 phone calls and then us having to go to reception and collect toilet paper from the front desk.
We had problems everyday with room cleaners not leaving us enough towels for the 5 people. No floor mats or hand towels were left.
Overall we were very disappointed with the room, the king bed was very uncomfortable and the air conditioning very loud.

Very disappointed at our stay. First of all, the elevator going up to our room was so outdated, same for the room that we ended up staying at - looked very outdated and not maintained. The water pressure in the bathroom was so low that we were having to fill the flush tank w/ water from the sink so we could flush the toilet properly. The internet on the TV in the bedroom was not working and although I called and reached out about it, nobody came to address the issue. Thankfully, the TV in the living room area was working properly. There was a sign of 24-hr room service available in the room but it was falsely advertising because when I had called around 1AM to place an order, I was told that they didn’t do room service and I had to download the Grab app instead and order food from there to be delivered.
Very disappointing stay. The only positive note I could comment on was the variety of foods for breakfast, other than that, I was disappointed and I stayed at much better IHG hotels in the past.
A great stay for my family

I recommend this hotel, especially if you have kids and are not super rich. Good value and a nice location. Friendly staff and a lovely hotel. My two young children loved their time here, as did we.

You can’t charge 3x the amount for a beer than all the bars and restaurants within 2 mins of the establishment. It makes no sense. You could make a fortune by bringing down the costs to be inline with others . Just because you have a relatively nice hotel don’t be greedy as it don’t pay .
Great stay - better communication could really lift this place!

We recently stayed for 5 nights. Family of 5 including 3 children aged 5-7.
The resort is well laid out, pool and slides were great. Breakfast was plentiful Altho some dishes got cold (bacon, sausages). Lots of food options outside of breakfast but I found it to be a bit pricey - saw hardly anyone participate in afternoon bbq - drop the price and get people involved for more atmosphere.
Great proximity to the beach!
The sweet shop is no longer there which my kids were disappointed as website showed otherwise. However this was made up with lollipops in the fridge and at breakfast (although I’d happily not have them at breakfast).
There was an evening where we were offered a complimentary cocktail as in-house guests and there were free bar snacks. We stumbled on this by accident on the last night but if it was advertised we would have purposely had a drink more nights at the bar.
Staff were all lovely and helpful but one thing which would really elevate the place is the entertainment and kids staff being more productive. Kids club activities only happened if we asked. Would be way better if on entry we were offered the advertised activity. Same with pool activities. Aqua aerobics only happens if you ask. The team are there but they are not actively encouraging people to start. Twice I had to ask if we could do it and both times they said ‘yes we didn’t think anyone was keen today’. Of course more people join in when started. It was fun and staff are great otherwise. Also very good for booking tours.
Overall we enjoyed our stay!
Disappointing IHG experience

Dear Noel, I am a regular guest at IHG properties around the world (currently, Diamond Elite, Ambassador). I am sorry to report that our stay at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Breach was one of the most disappointing IHG stays I have ever had. From the moment we checked in until we checked out, we did not receive our towels. We spoke with hotel staff no less than 15 times, asking them politely to please provide us with adequate towels. Many said they would arrange for towels to be delivered. Sadly, they never arrived. At least twice, staff hung up the phone while we were speaking to them. The fridge in our room did not work. We advised staff of this shortly after we checked into the hotel. They promised to fix, or replace the fridge. It was never been fixed, or replaced. The saddest part of our experience is that hotel staff rarely apologize for the very obvious absence of customer service. Many appear not to care in the slightest, as if there were nothing they could do to change the situation. During our stay we witnessed other guests (loudly) complaining to staff about the very unsatisfactory levels of hotel service. We also saw a guest carrying his room fridge to the lobby, and placing it on the hotel Reception counter. Apparently, he had given up waiting for hotel staff to fix, or replace his fridge. As a loyal IHG member, I sincerely hope that the Holiday Inn is able to immediately hire experienced, hospitality-trained personnel, who truly understand the importance of providing world-class customer service to their guests.

Although this may be a long message, we kindly ask that you read it entirety.
We were quite disappointed with the housekeeping service during our stay.
We had booked a room for four people, but on the second day, there was only two towels in
the shower room. We called the front desk to request two additional towels, but no one came for over 40 minutes. After calling again, another 30 minutes passed with no response. Eventually, we had to find a housekeeper ourselves to obtain the additional towels directly. This delay left us with very little time before our dinner plans, which was quite inconvenient.
On the following day, housekeeping still had not attended to our room after 4:00 PM. We informed the front desk, and they assured us they would arrange for it, but by 5:00 PM, no one had come and
we had to leave for dinner. Before heading out, we made another request in person at the front desk. When we returned to the room past 8:00 PM, we found that the room had not been tided. This was extremely disappointing, especially since we were told at the time of checking in that housekeeping would be done between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Once again, we called the front desk to request housekeeping as soon as possible, but after waiting for more than half an hour, no one came. Since our
children needed to take shower, we asked if someone—anyone—could at least bring us towels. However, even then, no one arrived.
Feeling that this was highly unacceptable, we went to front desk to return the used towels and calmly explained the situation, including the fact that housekeeping, which was supposed to come by 4:00 PM, had not shown up. We spoke directly with the manager, who apologised and provided pool towels as a temporary solution. The manager also assured us that housekeeping would be sent immediately. Unfortunately, no one came for cleaning that evening either.
We are unsure if our concerns were properly communicated. On the final night of our trip, when we were already tired, this situation left us feeling very frustrated. We wanted to enjoy a relaxing evening in our room with some drinks order through room service, but instead it disrupted our plan and left a disappointing impression on what had otherwise been an enjoyable trip.
Additionally, we noticed several instances where the service felt slow or inattentive. However, we appreciated the staffs who always greeted us with smiles and were kind to children. Kids also enjoyed the pool with its water slide. Since it was Christmas, they were delighted when Santa Claus visited at the breakfast time.
The hotel's location is excellent, with Surin Beach right in front and convenient access to shops, restaurants, and souvenir stores within walking distance.
Unfortunately, the coordination between housekeeping and the front desk was disappointing, and we are unsure if we would stay here again.
