We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The location is great and feels safe. Well-lit, free parking. Extremely clean room and lobby and fitness center. The breakfast was tasty and many options. Ice maker and water bottle refill station and items to buy if you want a snack. The coffee is ground bean to cup and tastes great.

Very impressed with the whole atmosphere. No stuffy smell at all. Very clean in front lobby, breakfast area, room, bathroom. Cold AC. Great water pressure in the shower and LOVED the complimentary DOVE hand soap, body lotion, shampoo, and conditioner.

I booked this place thru my IHG log in, never having stayed on an Avid Hotel. All I can say is I am disappointed . First the checkin was not very nice. Agent was barely friendly, demanding my ID.Then he slid paper across saying, " fill out the highlighted spots" part of that was an acknowledgement that they would charge my credit card with a $70 "security deposit", and for any "incidentals" (sodas, chips and candy bars!). I am a member if IHG Rewards and have never had to post a security deposit. I have a credit card on file and a full profile on IHG.
Now for the room, it was clean and the limited furnishings (laminate shelves attached to the walls) were in good shape. But, the room was tiny, barely room to walk around the bed. No microwave and the mini fridge is better described as tiny and was in a cabinet at floor level and not secured at all
It has a tendency to slide around when opening or closing it
Breakfast was skimpy-over cooked something they said was eggs, thin sausage patties, a nd potatoes. There were some cereals and a few pieces of fruit. And a few frozen mini muffins. We elected to forego this and go to a restaurant for real food.
We have been satisfied with other IHG hotels, but, needless to say,we won't be hitting this one again.

I stayed in Room 107, which I later learned was missing the shower door which was replaced with a shower curtain that did not keep the water in the shower pan. The entire bathroom floor flooded every time we showered. We had to use all of the towels in the room to mop up the mess. EVERY TIME. I paid premium rates for the room and decided to stay at an IHG hotel because I am a platinum elite member. I usually stay at Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton properties. I would be hard pressed to stay here again.
BEST STAFF AND CLEANEST HOTEL

My husband spotted this hotel on a previous trip in Tuscaloosa, where we stayed at another property. This time we chose to stay at the Avid from now on I will only stay at the Avid brand! This hotel by far was the BEST STAFF and CLEANEST I have ever stayed in! FROM THE FRONT DESK, HOUSEKEEPING, BREAKFAST WORKERS AND GROUND MAINTENANCE WORKERS the hotel was meticulously clean and fresh smelling! This property by far is the best in the area. I will be returning later on in the month and this is my first pick!

I would have given this hotel 5 stars but because of where it is located and how dangerous it was to go in and out of where it was located kept me from doing that. Very poor judgment on whoever thought putting the entrance to the hotel right at the same location of where you took the ramp to get onto 20. We were almost rear ended a few times because people thought we had our turn signal on to get onto 20 but then we almost have to stop to turn into the parking lot of the 3 hotels there which caused people to slam on their brakes to keep from hitting us. Other than that the hotel was very nice and clean.

Fairly newer build hotel close to University of Alabama with ample shopping and restaurants around. Main downside is you can hear the interstate traffic. Unless you are a very light sleeper you should be fine.
