Worst IC in Hanoi

TL;DR: Never stay here, go to IC Westlake instead.

Checking in as a diamond ambassador i was falsely upgraded to a functionally identical room. When i complained i was told to pay hundreds more dollars to receive a genuine upgrade (is it still an upgrade if i'm paying for it?). No Ambassador gaurantee or suitable alternative was offered.

Issues we're not a one-off:
- Airconditioning system uses motion sensors, meaning half the room was uninhabitable and reached temperatures of 30 degrees!
- Room service food was stale - ordrred the burger and the tomatoes were semi-transparent, and a side of the bun was crusty.
- Checking out took at least 20 minutes, staff were unable to process my ambassador credit correctly. I was not asked to take a seat or make myself comfortable as the time dragged on. Indicative of general lack of consideration for the guests.
- Lounge service was bad: generally slow inside, and despite staying for 10 nights and visiting every day i was asked for my room number almost every time, making me feel unwelcome.

For the first time ever as an IHG member, I made a complaint to "Dokie Khuong Do" who is the "Hotel Experience Champion"!

The response from their "champion" was so hollow and false that it just made more more angry. He was unsympathetic, offered no recourse, no compensation, and proceeded to gaslight me about how the offered upgrade was infact not an identical room, even though it clearly is when viewed online.

After realising his fake platitudes and gaslighting would nto work on me, the "Champion" completey ignored me - nice one >.<

Exceeding Expectations: A Remarkable Stay Landmark 72

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the InterContinental Landmark 72 during our vacation to Vietnam, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with exceptional attentiveness and warmth by the hotel staff.

The check-in process was smooth and efficient, with the receptionist providing us with all the necessary information about the hotel amenities and local attractions. What stood out immediately was the impeccable cleanliness throughout the hotel. The lobby was spotless, and the fragrance of freshness was in the air.... so much we purchased the exact air freshener machine.

Entering our room, we were delighted to find a beautifully appointed space that was not only aesthetically pleasing but also maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness. The linens were crisp, the furniture well-maintained, and every corner of the room reflected the care taken by the housekeeping staff. It was so nice to come back to the hotel with exceptional pillows to lay down after a long day of photoshooting.

Throughout our stay, the level of service remained consistently excellent. The staff was always available to assist with any requests we had, whether it was during our buffet breakfast or dinner cocktails They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction and I would especially like to call out CHI from the member's lounge - what a delightful person.

One aspect that truly impressed us was the attention to detail. From the personalized welcome note in our room to the little touches like fresh flowers in our room and in the lobby, it was evident that the hotel takes pride in creating a memorable experience for its guests.

Moreover, the amenities at Landmark 72 Hotel were outstanding. The onsite restaurant served delicious meals with a great selection of local and international dishes, and one of the best breakfast spreads which was both extensive and delicious.

In conclusion, our stay at Landmark 72 Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. It's rare to find a hotel that not only meets but exceeds expectations in terms of cleanliness, service, and overall experience. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay. We left feeling rejuvenated and eager to return for another visit.

We will be back in 2025 and be sure to book again.

Incident regarding the invoice, request from hotel to penalty 1 night price due to shortening the trip

I got 1 not good experience , and this is the 1st time I experienced this , though have been a local customer of the chain

my original booking is 20-March, check in, 25-March check out

due to business schedule, I have to check out earlier 1 day (informed front desk on 23-March, remind/call front desk again on 24-March morning)

when checkout, I'm surprised when the staff told me that because of my check out early , there is 1 night penalty fee that I need to pay for

my concern is not entirely on whether that is fair on 1 night penalty , but that needs to be transparent to the customer by
1.clearly explain / shown on booking and email confirmation (I found no-where )
2.remind/re-inform again to customer when they inform check out earlier. In my case, no-one inform me until my check out, and I had to rush to the airport

Though an email has been sent by customer service team apologying for this and not charging this on my case, but as a local customer of IHG chain, I would like the hotel to take this seriously to improve your services

From check in to our departure all the staff were welcoming, caring and always were able to assist with any requirements.
The staff in the Q Bar organised a sports screen one evening to watch a game and the entertainment was very good.
The Club staff ensured our stay was very comfortable.

The hotel itself is very nice (and with good views if you are lucky to have a clear day) but what really sets it apart is the lounge and the staff there, super good! Let me especially mention Dieu who made it her personal objective to make our stay the best possibel!
