Mahabalipuram, also known as Mamallapuram, is a town in Chengalpattu district, located just 14 kms from the resort. The town has a collection of 7th- and 8th-century Hindu religious monuments that has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Five Rathas

These are five monollithic temples, each created in a different style. They are also known as the Pancha Pandava Rathas. Four of the Rathas are believed to have been scooped out of a single rock formation. They are richly carved with art motifs and wall panels depicting Hindu divinities and royal portraits.

Shore Temple

Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, Chennai, 603104

This is one of the oldest temples in South India standing on the edge of the sea, enclosed by a row of bulls carved out of rock. It is believed to have been built by King Rajasimha in the later half of the 7th century AD.

Dakshina Chitra

The Dakshinachithra Complex run by the Madras Crafts foundation is a place where one can see the traditional houses and other artifacts from rural Tamil Nadu and the rest of South India. Its aim is to provide the visitors an insight into the lifestyle of the five southern states.

Crocodile Bank

Post Bag No 4, Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, Chennai, 603104

Located within 600 mts from the Resort is the Crocodile Bank. Started by Romulus Whittaker this is a farm where several species of Indian and African crocodiles and alligators are bred in captivity. The reptiles are kept in their natural surroundings in open pools and can be viewed from a safe point.
