Shop for the perfect souvenir at Central Market. You can find all types of traditional handcrafts from various cultures, mainly Malay, Chinese and Indian. There is everything under one roof, from batik, songket and Chinese calligraphy to saris. Central Market has created a corner to display multi-ethnicity, and the stalls are zoned based on the features of each culture. The Central Market is a heritage building that was built in 1888 by the British, who were ruling Malaya at the time.

Fondly called 'Chee Cheong Kai' among local Chinese, Petaling Street is located in Chinatown. The area has some excellent food stalls serving Chinese cuisine and local favourites, and there are many intricately built temples. Petaling Street Bazaar is a bargain hunters' paradise, as you may find rows of stalls offering cheap watches, handbags, wallets, costume and jewellery. Visit Kwai Chai Hong, a delightful laneway tucked between restored pre-war buildings, perfect for that Insta-moment.

Gazetted in 1906, this 10.5-hectare forest-clad hill is one of the oldest forest reserves in the country and the only remaining tropical rainforest in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Enjoy the beauty of mother nature while following the 10- or 20-minute walk trails from the Information Centre at Jalan Raja Chulan to KL Tower. KL Tower stands at 421 metres. It houses an observation deck, which takes 58 seconds to reach. Next to the tower is the 100-year-old Jelutong tree or Dyera costulata.
