  • Wine Region

The Mornington Peninsula is one of Australia's best known wine regions. The cool, maritime climate allows the area to produce quality varieties similar to those in some of France's greatest wine regions. Featuring over 200 vineyards and 50 cellar doors, the Peninsula is traditionally best known for its distinctive Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and is rapidly developing its palate for Pinot Gris and Shiraz. Take in spectacular scenery while sipping on some of Australia's best wines, and experience prominent, fruit-forward flavours and refined tannins.

  • An Extraordinary History

The Mornington Peninsula is traditionally owned by the Boon Wurrung people, who have inhabited the area for over 40,000 years. The site of the first mainland European settlement in Victoria, Sorrento boasts several beautiful limestone buildings dating back to the 19th century, surrounded by the native vegetation, sprawling beaches, and unique animals which have called this land home for thousands of years. Winding trails lead the way across the region, from the Western Port Coastal Reserve to Point Nepean National Park. Located at the western tip of the Peninsula, the historic park features 150 year old military structures and quarantine zones, and was the site of the disappearance of Australian Prime Minister Harold Holt in 1967. Explore snaking trails by foot or bike, or enjoy a scenic drive through the rugged underbrush of this storied land.
