Inside the Rijksmuseum, the Philips Wing showcases Golden Age art while the Rembrandt House holds masterful pieces by painter Rembrandt van Rijn.

The museum has the largest collection by Vincent van Gogh in the world. It gives the opportunity to compare his paintings to works by other artists from the 19th century. The museum also holds exhibitions on various subjects from the 19th century.

Situated in the center of Amsterdam on Dam Square, the Royal Palace was built in the 17th century. Inside, ornate rooms open to stunning marble and architectural gems like hand-painted ceilings and sculptures. For prime nightlife, this former milk factory, Melkweg (meaning Milky Way) is considered one of the Amsterdam's most hip electronic music venues. Nestled along Amsterdam's canals and founded in the 1970's as a uniquely counter culture outlet, the colossal structure now houses various multi-purpose rooms and large spaces for live music and dancing while upstairs, the more intimate Oude Zaal (Old Hall) hosts buzzy, up-and-coming bands.
