It is named "La Canea" after the the Roman Catholic Diocese of La Canea or Cidonia, the bishopric that was located at present-day Chania. While researching the history of the place, almost all vintage photos had the city of Chania written on their back as "La Canea". What an appropriate name for this café, in the heart of town!
