As this hotel is going through a refurbishment I thought I would give you my view as a IHG member with over 80 nights stayed in the group last year. I have one disappointment with the room I was in for my stay, it was room 417. The point I would like to raise is the use of cheap MDF board for the shelf in the bathroom. You walk in the bathroom and immediately stare at the rough edged shelf. It looked cheap. Would a piece of timber about 4 feet long be so expensive. I don't think so.
I can't fault the rest of the room.

The hotel was in the process of being refurbished so the newly decorated room was comfortable. The breakfast was good value for money.

Choice of pillows.
Would have preferred a sea view.
The appearance of the building from outside is a 70's eyesore.
But if all one requires is a good nights sleep with an en-suite bathroom

Arrived at 9 am - and expecting Parking at best, was offered choice of rooms and checked in - excellent staff. Hotel has had a refurbishment since my last stay stay, and it is now all sparkly and nice. Position is at front overlooking beach, next to a whole road of restaurants and a short walk from the Dome (a must) and all the other sites............. If visiting for the night life, you are close to everything - but far enough that when you want to sleep you can.

I recently stayed at another IHG brand where the almost non existent customer service nearly turned me away from the brand despite being Platinum status.
This hotel, and more importantly the staff here changed that and restored my faith in the brand, I was given the welcome that I expect as a loyalty club member and the whole weekend was very relaxing.
A comfortable hotel, I will be returning after the refurbishment is complete.

Only criticism was age off bathroom fittings, but to be fair there were signs to say the hotel was undergoing refurb work
