We were travelling mainly on family matters in St Helens. This hotel was excellent as a base for our 2-day stop.
Very easy access (after the M6!) and good parking arrangements with decent-sized bays clearly marked.
Reception and check-in was very efficient and friendly. Our Priority Club membership was recognised and we got vouchers for the WiFi. I'm probably spoiled at work and home but the WiFi/ internet access did not seem fast but was pretty consistent with devices recognised on next access.
Room was to usual standard; bed VERY comfortable and heating worked well. We felt the shower-room toilet was just a bot too tight and the shower cubicle barely adequate (the 2/3rds glass screen does not stop splashes!)
We only used catering for breakfast and this was OK with a good choice of most items (but not bread products - brown or white sliced only!)
Overall a satisfactory stay and we would certainly use this hotel again when in the neighbourhood.

Hotel is excellently located. Rooms etc are the usual good IHG quality.
Breakfasts over my 3 day stay were good , wish I could say the same for the dinners !
Poor choice , poor quality were the flavour of the day.

I have visited this hotel on numerous occasions and have never been let down. The staff give first class service, very clean environment, nice leisure facilities, never rowdy or noisy. Overall highly recommended.

Bed was very comfortable and the black out curtains ensured a good night's sleep.
Would have preferred more variety for the Breakfast.

Just love this Hotel. Staff are so polite friendly and caring nothing is ever to much trouble and they always do everything with a smile on their faces. Which is to be admired in this day and age.Bar staff always brilliant. Always know we are frequent visitors and treat us with great respect. Check in service is always nice and Friendly. I have to always compliment Lauren has she always know how to look after us when we ring up to book a weekend. On this occasion we had problems with the bathrooms. We booked 2 rooms 1 for our friends. The staff did everything to help. Especially Steve.Certain things could not be sorted whilst we where there,but on arriving home we got a phone call from Lauren to say what is happening. She was brilliant. Thank you for everything Holiday Inn.See you very soon.

First impressions lovely approach delightful grounds nice exterior, reception area busy and noisy with overspill from wedding reception,
Check in process lengthy.
Room appearance tired and smelled of cigarettes
Bathroom spartan but functional
Breakfast an unpleasant experience , too many guests too few staff , buffet presentation unappealing , chef struggling to keep up with demands of vast majority of guests determined to eat their own weight in bacon sausages and eggs, bread frozen, no pastries, no fresh fruit .
Dining room looked like a school canteen with unsightly tables added to cope with demand, Furniture shabby .
Not relaxing not restful , shall resist the urge to return at all costs
