Friendly staff and rooms are clean and tidy. Check in and out is efficient. Quality of breakfast and dinners are good. Grounds are well looked after

I had to attend a wedding reception across the road at The Celtic Manor Resort and chose to stay at this hotel because of its close proximity and very competitive price. It was comfortable, clean and very convenient. I would recommend it to anyone attending a similar occasion.

we have often stayed at the Holiday Inn Newport over a number of years and it was in fact a joy to return, the staff are very helpful and the restaurant is a very pleasant experience.
I look forward to staying there again hopefully the sauna and the gym will be finished

As a regular visitor to Holiday Inn Newport I have come to look forward to my times staying here. Just keep an eye on expectations, tea in a pot for breakfast does not seem a lot but is always better than simply a hot supply and a mug. The staff are always great, this time I only had time for breakfast and Wendy, Jan and the rest were up to their usual friendly ways and always make a great start to the day. This is key to the Newport experience - relationships that matter.

I had the carvery the first night and as it was quite late when I got there ( about 21:00) the food had been sitting there for a while, so everything had that tired dried out look, so much so that the rice was unedible due to being all dried out and hard.
The second night I had a steak, but this was mainly fat/grisle.
This restaurant has gone downhill since my last stay.
Also, in the mornings, the breakfast hot drinks are in flasks on a help yourself basis. According to the manager its like this in all holiday inns!

Holiday Inn took over a nasty 60s motel and added a dedo rail and little else. Low ceilings, thin walls. Horrid experience not improved by snobby staff who think they are running the Ritz and can barely lift an eyebrow to acknowlege you.
