Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A nice hotel, but in need of refurbishment Overall a good hotel with friendly staff, good food and a decent room standard, but the hotel does need refurbishing to increase the quality of the hotel to match its star rating. 24 June 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good standard Hotel for Business Positives - Good breakfast, reasonable gym facilities, quiet rooms (at rear of building) Negatives - A/C in gym not working, bedroom A/C very lack lustre 24 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Hotel The Hotel is good in it's appearance, amenities it offers and the staff are professional. The Hotel is well situated to other outlets. I had a good stay and will rebook here when I am next back in the area. 20 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First class experience Having stayed many times at this hotel in the past ten years, this was probably one of the best as everything seemed to run very smoothly. Our visit to Nottingham was in order to visit family and friends so we didn't use too many of the facilities such as the bar or leisure facility although we have in the past. Our check-in was very smooth and problem free and the receptionists were really friendly and welcoming. Also the restaurant staff, several of whom we have got to know by first names, were excellent as usual particularly Diane and her daughter Emma. At the ens of our short stay we felt sad at leaving and are looking forward to our next stay later in the year. 19 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stay at Nottingham Stay at the Holiday Inn Nottingham was to the normal very high standards as we come to expect. First Class Accommodation and very friendly and helpful staff. 17 June 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overnighter to pick up daughter Stayed once again at the Holiday Inn Castle Marina to collect my daughter from uni. I have used the hotel for this purpose before and once again the standards were good. 17 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Freindly staff and confortable service This Hotel is very good value and has an extremely nice staff and always is a most comfortable stay. We have stayed here many times now and after staying in all the other Hotels in Nottingham we found this to be the best and most value for money. The only negative comment is the room air conditioning needs updating as can be very noisy otherwise it is always a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend anyone visiting Nottingham to stay here. 12 June 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by pleasant hotel staff, comfortable accomodation and good service for a weekend stay this hotel was ideal. Would probably have dined in the hotel but unfortunately a new carpet was being fitted in the dining. Just our luck to choose the wrong weekend but will definately be returning yo Nottingham again and probably use this hotel 12 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff excellent Staff went out their way, will always make this hotel first choice when viiting Nottingham - bathroom could be updated 12 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good value hotel exceeded my expectations I didn't really expect a huge amount from a Holiday Inn (cheap and cheerful) but was really pleased with my staff here when I was up visiting for the Outlaw Triathlon. Would recommend. 05 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by service excellent Most things were of a very high standard. really like the 6.30 start for breakfast .. I end up missing breakfast in most hotels. Rooms really comfortable and most importantly staff/ team were excellent. I had room service for dinner and was a bit disappointed with the quality vs the quality of breakfast. 03 June 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant stay, comfortable room Enjoyed our stay, but would not pay for breakfast again. 01 June 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by holiday inn nottingham need to up the game a bit, standards are dropping, dont really want to write 50 characters this should be kept short and sweet 01 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Value Modern Hotel This was a very brief first stay at this hotel. I arrived late and left early the next morning. However, I was very impressed. It is a modern hotel, very inviting common areas such as Reception and Bar and the room was very comfortable. Best night's sleep in an hotel for some time. I enjoyed my stay and will use again when I am in this area. Highly recommended. 20 May 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Avoid the 3rd floor Airconditioning plant is noisy I booked the 3 rooms whilst working in the area however the Airconditioning plant in the roof area above the rooms started up and stopped all through the night. I didn't get any sleep from 2am. Three rooms with a guy in each and only one of us slept. At checkout the reception desk knew the issue before I even spoke. Their response was a refund of one breakfast. If I hadn't have been so tired, with a long day ahead of me, I'd have argued harder for a refund. Another chain hotel is next door; they have a good nights sleep guarantee. Or...when booking, make a phone call rather than book via an app or online to make sure you are not in a room near the noisy equipment. All other facilities were good, I just required sleep to function properly the next day. 19 May 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good - but not that good! Being a Platinum member for a number of years I frequent very many hotels in the Group, I have also stayed at this hotel many times in recent months. It is disappointing that they never offer an upgrade to platinum members even though Executive Rooms are available. (Whilst not expecting this every time, even an occasional offer would be welcome and appreciated!) Food quality has slipped at breakfast, with the food being more greasy. Staff are friendly and helpful, the hotel is well situated with ample parking. 12 May 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Holiday Inn close to Nottingham City Centre Very modern yet cosy feel to this Holiday Inn. Room was of a very high standard with good quality decoration etc. Not a very big hotel but good. Bar area is very small & gets filled quickly with stag / hen party groups early evening on a Fri & Sat night I would think... but all OK. Very good location close to city centre. Food was of a good standard overall; not great but OK. 07 May 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sandie Stayed for 2 nights as husband was umpiring a hockey cup final and we decided to make a weekend of it. All the staff were very helpful and friendly and the standard of food both for evening meal and breakfast was outstanding (keep your chef happy!!!) Only 2 down sides. one the pressure of the cold water was extremely poor. It took ages for the bath to fill an d in the morning when others were using the water, I had to wait for the tiniest trickle to do my teeth!! we wondered if it was because we were on the 3rd floor. but to be fair when we mentioned it on checking out the receptionist was very apologetic and said he would report it. only other down was being woken up at 3 and then 4 in the morning by very rude inconsiderate people who haven't the courtesy to speak in a low tone outside hotel rooms instead of talking at full volume!! But NOT the hotel,s fault so all in all a good weekend and I would recommend this hotel. also only 15 mins lovely walk along the canal to the town centre 01 May 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wedding Stayed on Good Friday for brothers wedding - Jonathan on the front desk was polite, friendly and very informative. Breakfast was great and the room up to the usual standard. Cant grumble at all. 21 April 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable bed but the room was way too hot Unless you are in an executive suit there is no climate control as they have turned it all off so yet again my room was like a sauna making it only possible to sleep after I had passed out through sheer exhaustion. 06 April 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant stay We had a one night stay in a family room for 4. We had 2 comfortable double beds with a selection of firm or soft pillows for all. The room was lovely and clean and tidy, finished in a modern and pleasant style, with TV, iron, ironing board, and Tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was reasonably spacious with a shower over the bath. Again this was clean and tidy and finished in a modern style. The parts of the premises we did visit seemed very comfortable and well kept. However due to such a brief stay we were unable to fully appreciate all the facilities that were available. We cannot comment on the food as our stay was on a room only basis. We considered breakfast but found this to be a little more expensive than we wanted to pay for a family of 4, as our children did not qualify for the kids eat free deal. The staff were pleasant and courteous when we checked in and quickly dealt with our only concern that our room had been prepared for 2 people rather than 4. We had a pleasant stay and would be happy to book again. Our only negative comments would be that we found the room very warm during the night, and free wifi facilities would have been appreciated. 02 April 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Close but not too close This hotel is excellent for people visiting or working in Nottingham. The hotel is far enough outside of the city centre to not have the noise from traffic and student drinkers (unlikely the express). However, you are 1 mile from the castle and it is an slow 15 minute walk along the canal to the train station. If you enjoying running before or after work then the circular routes along the canal to the Trent and back is excellent for all runners. Routes from 6km, 8km, 9km and 11km in either direction. Highly recommend the hotel. 31 March 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by One night stay Nice reception area and friendly staff. Room was a little dated, however I believe that some refurb is underway. Food was nice and a decent menu was available. Overall a nice hotel for the short stay that I was there and I would stay again. 24 March 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very comfortable and cosy Unfortunately the whole experience was spoiled by inconsiderate guests coming in during the early hours of Sunday morning, talking far too loud and making general noise entering their rooms. Unfortunately we were opposite the lift. 19 March 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Check out a pain Extremely slow lifts, these must be ancient - needs to be upgraded. Waitresses very attentive and food very good. Checking out was a hassle as the person on reception could not read the bill properly and had an attitude. 18 March 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyable weekend break at the hotel and superb service The hotel was warm and welcoming, spotlessly clean. Staff were very polite and made the stay enjoyable 12 March 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel shame about the plumbing!! Stayed here overnight on business. Check in was fine and confimed breakfast inluded in booking. Got back from work at 12.20am and set my alarm for 8.30am. At 7.30am the central heating pipes started clanging as the heating came on. This went on for half an hour at various noise levels. Finally went down to breakfast (early) to be told by the waitress that breakfast was not included in my stay even though it had been confirmed on my arrival. She phoned to check with the duty manager but got no answer. Said i could go in anyway. I assume she checked at some stage but it would have been nice if she had confirmed this with me (and appologised or am i being picky?) When i mentioned the plumbing to the duty manager on my way out he appologised and that was it. If you want a hotel that offers a good nights sleep GO ELSWHERE!!! 04 March 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by lovely comfy beds Two double beds for two people with a choice of pillows made it very easy to sleep well despite the hotel being very busy and quite noisy in the corridors but it was Saturday night in the city centre. The room was clean apart from thick dust on the mirror and and picture frames but decoration was a little tired with peeling wallpaper and scuffed walls. Convenient for the University with a choice of chain restaurants on the doorstep. My daughter and I found the staff to be really freindly and accommodating. My only two gripes are that the room was very hot despite turning off the central heating. And yes, we did open the window but it was a bitterly cold night so the temperature plummeted and the open window meant we had all the traffic noise and the noise of merry people returning to the hotel. The other gripe is having to pay for wi-fi in the room. My young daughter did not want to sit in reception in the evening and you only get an hour free anyway. Overall, I think if it was a week night I'd happily stay again as the beds were so comfortable. 26 February 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rooms too warm Found the temperature in the room intolerable. It was too warm too sleep even though I had my radiator turned to zero. Reception could not change my room as they said other rooms would be the same. Gave me a fan which helped a little and said to leave the window open to cool it down which also helped marginally but it was really too warm when sleeping. I stayed 4 nights and worked during the day so I was exhausted at the end. Will not stay in this hotel again. Other negative points are: Some of the staff a bit uppity. Internet only free for elite members and very costly if not - most people have internet at home these days so in some ways I think it should be an included service in hotels (like a TV - you expect all rooms to have this without paying extra. Kettle wasn't very clean. No back door in this hotel - so it is a long walk around when its raining. Sorry but on this occasion, the only positive point I have for this hotel is its location. 18 February 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't really want to sleep on the floor Stayed in probably the worst Holiday Inn room I've ever seen at this hotel. The bed was pretty much a mattress on the floor and the TV couldn't be viewed comfortably either from the bed or from the single chair in the room. Really disappointing as my previous stays at this hotel have been good. 16 February 2014
