Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by All what I need when I stay in Barrie The location is perfect. The place is cozy, very clean, and quiet. The staff I dealt with was very nice. I do recommend to others. I only have one constructive comment. Please improve the breakfast. I did stop having breakfast when I stay there, I don't feel relaxed due to staff moving back and forth so many times. Also the menu can be improved to match other holiday inn locations. Thank you very much for your hospitality. 19 December 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by First Impressions Say A LOT My recent stay at this hotel was completely ruined upon check in by the front desk attendant (an older woman that I will not mention by name). I was on business and I ALWAYS pay for my room charge upon check in when on a business trip. The woman would not allow me to prepay, she told me that "they do not do that here". I'm sorry but I stay at Holiday Inn Express several times a year and I have prepaid for my room every single time over the past 7 years. In fact, I stayed at one the week before this (in Ottawa) and had absolutely no issues whatsoever prepaying. I explained all of this to the woman and she still told me no (very rudely I might add). She even went so far as to point at a sign they have on the wall that says they do not accept personal cheques for payment. Not sure what that had anything to do with what I was asking of her. By this time I was very frustrated and my tone was echoing this, so the manager came from the backroom and handled the situation appropriately by informing her that they DO in fact allow people to prepay for their rooms. So I was then able to complete my transaction. However, once this was sorted out, the desk attendant still would not give me the appropriate receipt so that I could submit it to my place of business. She told me that I could get it when I checked out of the hotel, but not before. I'm not sure why this woman has such a sense of entitlement, but if I had someone like this working for me I would absolutely 100% fire her. She is not doing your business any good. Just to add I did go to the front desk the following day when another employee was working and asked for the copy of my appropriate receipt and without hesitation, she gave it to me and if you can believe it she gave it to me 3 days before my checkout. Imagine that!! Remember you only have a business because of customers, why scare them away with employees that clearly don't care about those customers. 19 December 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simple room fixes Stayed there on the 17th in room 219. There are some simple fixes that should be obvious, especially to hotel staff. 15 minutes after we got into our room (ie: 3:15pm), cleaning staff come and open the door? What the heck. Not only do they NOT knock but just go right ahead using their key card and opening the door. If check-in times are 3pm, why are they not checking with frontdesk as to what rooms are occupied? Bathroom doorframe does not match the bathroom door, so anytime you want to close the door fully, you have to push on it a lot and thus it is noisy and will wake up the other person if they are sleeping. Take a look at the upper right corner of the door when facing the bathroom and give the door a shave to make it easier. Hottub stopper, although it did keep the water level full, from time to time it did release and before we even filled the tub, we were not sure if it would hold the water (didn't look like it seals). Perhaps this is how it should be, or maybe it needs to be replaced. Other than that, great room, comfortable and quite. 19 December 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing Stay My job is in sales which means I live out of hotels and this stay was by far one of the best experiences I have had. Rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The facilities are easy access and clean with a 24 hour gym that for people travelling on business is a great option. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling and if all Holiday Inn's are the same quality and experience then I would recommend Holiday Inn as a destination choice. 09 December 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by North of Toronto Although bit pricey considering location, a sold out night due to winter's first storm, so nice to have a warm room and a welcome face upon arrival. Located on the south end of Barrie, this property meets all of the standards expected from a Holiday Inn and no surprises... quick check in, nice buffet breakfast in the morning and then off to work. I would recommend this property to travelers heading north of Toronto. 23 November 2014
