Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Had to move room, breakfast poor Stayed 3 nights between 6/6 - 9/6. Have stayed at HIE (other towns previously), so had an expectation of what it would be like. Generally the hotel standard was good, however, on the first morning, the hot breakfast was limited to scrambled egg (we were not late) and this took about 20 minutes to rectify. When the replacement food arrived, the sausages and hash browns looked under-cooked and unappetizing. We needed to change room the same morning as the toilet would not flush. 13 June 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by lovely welcome but sadly not a great night A modern exterior aspect; a very warm and efficient welcome at reception but sadly, a very disappointing sleeping experience. The room is efficiently laid-out: spacious and providing all the necessary features, a compact but well laid-out bathroom/toilet, but the room cleanliness and quality of furniture left a lot to be desired. The room had a musty smell generally and the carpet was soiled around one of the bedside tables from a spill which had not been shampooed off. There were no curtains on the window. The bed itself was very uncomfortable: a worn-out bed frame which allowed a lot of movement of the frame and mattress and a worn-out mattress with every spring poking into the body throughout the night. We wanted to like this hotel but will definitely not be coming back. 11 June 2014

As doors are fitted with door closers, they always slam, which I understand the hotel can't do anything about. 06 June 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just What I Needed The Holiday in Express was in a good location and just a short taxi ride to the town centre. The staff were very friendly without being over the top and eager to please. Room was a good size clean and comfortable the only issue was that the room was very warm with no control over the room temperature. I was offered a fan but was give no explanation as to why the air con was not working. It was not just my room but a friend in the room next to me had the same issue I would stay here again 04 June 2014

The staff always make me feel very welcome. They are very friendly as well as being totally professional. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rooms need updating! I stayed for one night whilst taking a night out in Norwich. The hotel is on the outer ring road near to Asda. It is £10 in a taxi from the railway station. There is nothing much nearby (pubs/restaurants). At reception, the guy was friendly, welcoming and polite. We had a double room (they still do smoking rooms) which I found unusual. The room had definitely seen better days, the carpet was very worn and marked and the bed was very soft....not to my liking, although it was clean. There was a double sofa bed so I guess the room could sleep 4. Breakfast was ok, typical HI Express. On reflection, if you can book earlier enough and get a good price then stay there. If not just stay at the Holiday Inn near to the railway station, much better rooms, cleaner and better location. 01 May 2014

But I feel that it should be possible to make book by phone, especially when travelling, as not everyone has a suitable device for making an online reservation. 28 April 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by weekend in norfolk room to usual standard ,comfortable and clean the breakfast very good ,two down side to hotel 1 car-parking is very hard to find a peak time due gym and ice ring on site. 2 if you get a room at rear the gym start playing music from around 8;00am in morning which if you like a lazy start will wake you . overall the hotel is very useable if need abase in this area 23 April 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed great service Excellent breakfast with unlimited sausages,toast,scrambled eggs, butter, marmalade and three television screens. Service was excellent and the waitresses cleared away the tables and we're constantly cleaning the other tables.Everyone was smiling and friendly and didn't make any fuss when I arrived on the wrong day especially the desk clerk 09 March 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Staff I made our reservation via the Central Reservation system when it would have been easier to contact the Hotel directly. I went to visit the hotel the day before we checked in to ensure everything was ok and was pleasantly surprised by how helpful the staff (especially Tom) was in helping me with my dietary requirements (I am a coeliac) Check in was good (once the receptionist stopped serving at the Bar and came back to reception) and the room was a good size with excellent facilities and very clean. In fact the only negative of the two night stay was the fact that on both mornings we were woken by very loud bass noise from a class at the next door gym. This was before 9am on both the Friday and Saturday morning!! We were not advised of this and would have liked a good lie in!!! 08 March 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Compare the Inn's Standards. We visit Norwich, our previous home location, on numerous times a year and search for value each time. Your pricing included breakfast, which for me, cereal and fruit is enough, but for my wife the FOUR choices of cooked was far from adequate, enticing, nor monotonous. We were 'disturbed' on the Saturday with loud noise ALL night. It started at 2100hrs when we arrived back, and our complaint was put off with the promise that 'they' were leaving soon. Unfortunately they returned in the early morning and were louder, more aggressive and unstoppable, even with the Police there? Yes we received the nights fee, but as a retired Norfolk Officer, I am disgusted with the lack of positive action. As for YOUR so called security, the Police should only have to attend whilst you BOOTED OUT those responsible, and the Police ensure no Breach of the Peace. Our peace was disturbed all night, something that money cannot replace. We will continue to seek value when we visit Norwich again, but not at yours. 08 March 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely staff, great value hotel. Clean, comfortable room with a nice hot shower. Plenty of pillows on the bed, room was warm and had everything we needed. Staff were very polite and friendly, and seemed keen to ensure we were happy with our room. Breakfast was lovely and my only criticism is that the breakfast area was a bit too small for the amount of guests trying to get their food. I will definitely book again, fantastic value for money and exceeded my expectations! Many thanks. 07 March 2014

A real lack of choice, no healthy choice and cooked items looked rather dried up. Rooms nice and spacious and well maintained. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job. Our second stay, it was the best value of the four Holiday Inns in Norwich for the night. The staff were very knowledgable, acknowledging me as an IHG member. Our room was basic but served it's purpose. The view was of a flat roof but we didn't go for this! The carpet was a bit scruffy and torn but for the money, it's being too picky. Liked the mini-bar next to reception which we used. A free limited cooked breakfast was available (no bacon or fried eggs) as were cereals and other options. This appears to be a Holiday Inn Express thing. The Whiffler pub, two McDonalds, Asda and a sports complex are easily accessible, so that is handy. 12 February 2014

The breakfast was very nice with plenty to choose from. The only thing that could be done is more tea,coffee & milk in the rooms. Apart from that we will be staying again. 30 January 2014

Breakfast plentiful with a great choice, but hash browns really don't hot hold very well, taste and texture of cardboard. All in all value for money and will stay again. 23 January 2014

A friendly and helpful staff member offered to send me a complimentary car to collect me from the train station some 10 minutes away. I arrived the following day at 11.30 pm the and the Reception staff were genuinely friendly and made me feel welcomed The hotel looks nice and clean inside and my room was comfortable and met all my needs.Breakfast was complimentary and okay. 16 January 2014
