Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Saturday 12th July THE STAFF WERE GREAT from check-in to check out. The room, bed linen, towels and bathroom were very clean. Only slight negative was the adult on the fold down sofa bed said it was very uncomfortable but it was only one night so not such a problem. The room was probably a bit small for 3 adults for longer than one or two nights. The bathroom was a good size for a hotel room - good use of doors! Breakfast was great - lots of very fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurts, croissants, cheese, bread rolls, toast and all condiments, beans, sausages, scrambled eggs all types of coffee and tea. All areas of the hotel were very clean and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. 18 July 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A little less accessibilbe than others There are no accessible family rooms at this hotel, so we had to have a double bed with a single roll out and no access to the bathroom. Normally the Express hotels do take dogs however, this one does not. The necessary security arrangements were a little stressful as we were not told about them until after we had collected our door keys. The location is very good, especially if you plan to shop or travel onwards as it is beside Gunwharfe Quay and the train station. 16 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient comfortable and pretty good value. Arriving in Portsmouth with no arrangements I found this venue to be very suitable for my brief stay with a good breakfast, helpful staff, clean quiet and comfortable room at a fair rate. 15 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable stay I took my partner for a night at Gunwharf, and chose the Holiday Express not so much as a 'romantic getaway' more so that I have stayed before and new what I would be expecting. I wanted somewhere close Gunwharf itself, and new this suited, The starf have always been courteous and are there when you need them without interfering. The only thing I would mention that there can be a lot of noise during the early hours. I am not sure if this is the staff making an earl start or guests. Other than that no issues. 13 July 2014

However, I need to input my details ( name address) every time I log in. Apart from that, the noise from next door was irritating. When the person next door slammed his/ her door, the working table in my room was shaking. 11 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overall condition of the hotel The hotel is in need of a refit. I stayed in room 114 and there was a stain in the carpet. The corridor carpet is stuck down with duck tape. The walls are scuffed from suitcase wear. The scrambled egg/sausage/beans for breakfast needs a rethink and the downstairs lobby is dull. One lift was out of action. The staff were great. Overall I have stayed here a few times and am always happy with my stay. The hotel needs some work on the corridors and rooms. 10 July 2014
