Rated 4,0 out of 5,0 by Mixed feelings this time We stayed here in December 2012 and had a wonderful experience. This time an email was sent asking what kind of room we would like and our arrival time. When we arrived at the time we said we would, a room fulfilling our wishes had not been planned for us and was not available, that if we wanted to wait there might be one later. As we were to go to lunch at a friend's home we said we were easy and would take what they had available. I think that was our mistake. We were given a very small inside room. When later we returned and we had not received any amenities, as I am an Ambassador, we inquired. A box of cookies and a bottle of water was sent up. We also requested a room change. We were given a better room. Overall this time our experience for the two nights we stayed I would not say was the best the hotel has to offer. It is still a great location and the hotel has a great history and ambiance. The hotel was full but that is no reason for the lack of recognition as a rewards club member or the lack of caring we felt from the staff. It also made me doubt my decision to become an Ambassador. 15. Oktober 2014
Rated 5,0 out of 5,0 by Excellent service - a lovely stay I used my IHG Ambassador Club points to take my mother to Paris for six days to celebrate her 74th birthday. We had a wonderful stay and loved our room and the hotel's location. When using points, you're only guaranteed a "classic" room and any upgrades are at the hotel's discretion, which is perfectly reasonable. Given that, we were so pleased with our spacious 4th floor room with a balcony overlooking l'Opera. The room is decorated in a style that matches the hotel's period, but the bathroom has been modernized with lots of nice details like a shaving mirror, good vanity lighting, a large tub, a separate, glass enclosed shower stall with top spray and hand-held wand and even a retractable clothes line that can be pulled across the tub for hand laundered items, etc. I always appreciate the use of a bathrobe and slippers - less to pack. The linens were very warm and of good quality. The street below can be very noisy, so we were impressed with how well the sound was controlled when we closed the balcony doors and heavy curtains. We only heard sounds from a neighboring room once, and that was a small child crying very loudly, which we never heard again. The hotel was full, so the lack of noise was impressive. Even the plumbing sounds were well controlled and only barely noticeable from inside the bathroom - not at all disturbing. The service was excellent. We we arrived at 8:30 am we didn't expect a room to be ready, but just wanted to check in and drop off our luggage. The front desk kindly gave us passes for brunch at Cafe de la Paix, which was wonderful after almost 24 hours of travel. The buffet was excellent and we enjoyed it again on another morning. As I checked in I found that my global calling plan was not working - nothing's worse than an inoperable cell phone in today's world - so I really appreciated the efficient help I received from the young woman at the guest services desk. She used her desk phone to place a collect call to the US for me and I was able to resolve my technical problem within minutes. We also had a very nice interaction with the young man who came to service our mini-bar. Of course he said he could come back later, but as we were preparing to leave anyway, I invited him in to complete his tasks. We had a short but very pleasant conversation as he let us practice our French with him. I was particularly pleased when, on my mom's birthday, room service brought a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket, an absolutely beautiful, large mille-feuille pastry from Cafe de la Paix and a handwritten note wishing her a happy birthday, all of which was set up attractively in the room during the afternoon. We were both surprised and delighted and thoroughly enjoyed the treats. She said it was the best birthday cake she'd ever had and the champagne was very nicely balanced. We finished the cake for breakfast before we left for the airport the next morning. The hotel management has my genuine appreciation for such a kind gesture. It made my mom's day. 13. Oktober 2014

Rated 2,0 out of 5,0 by Overpriced hotel with condescending staff Beautiful building and architecture but the quality of the bedrooms themselves is less than hoped for. Staff are not very helpful. The cost of accomodation, food and drinks is exhorbitant e.g. sunday brunch is advertised at 82 Euros each. 11. Oktober 2014

Rated 5,0 out of 5,0 by Memorable stay The hotel itself is a great exploration. With few step's adjacent to opera and Lafayette, I could also walk to most tourist's site. I was also upgraded to a opera view suite. The in room amenities are so full in category, champaign, juice, water, macaron. Thanks for being so generous always to royal ambassador. 9. Oktober 2014

The setting is magnificent, the Café de la Paix is an historical place where it is fine to have breakfast or dinner. Our junior suite was spacious with an excellent bed. 9. Oktober 2014

Excellency in every detail, special remark to Mr Ricardo, in charge of the restaurant, who memorized it would be my birthday and prepared a nice surprise for breakfast. 8. Oktober 2014

Rated 4,0 out of 5,0 by good but not ideal Dear InterConti, Mu spouse had a birthday on the date of arrival in the hotel and I mentioned it on the check in, but no reaction from the front desk was noticed. After mentioning again, we were greeted with a small cake in the room. I bit too less for the quality of the hotel. Thanks 7. Oktober 2014

The room was amazing, as was dinner in the restaurant, Cafe de la Paix. Our stay with you was one on of the big highlights of our holiday and will remain a cherished memory for years to come. Rated 5,0 out of 5,0 by A great short break From arival we were well looked after - unfortunately our room was not available - however it was 1230 - we were offered a drink in the bar but we chose to head out into Paris. On return our room was everything I had expected - view of the Opera house - large sitting area - lovely spacious bathroom- -we had everything we needed including a bottle of Champagne! The TV needed a degree in computer science to operate however a member of staff was immediately on hand to show me what to do. After an evening meal the room had been 'turned down' and cleared but unfortunately the tea and coffee mugs were removed and not replaced with clean ones so the Mrs could not have a cup of tea before bed - British and their tea!! A call to room service sorted this but it was un-necessary fuss late at night Speedy check out - no fuss - RECOMMENDED 25. September 2014

Rated 4,0 out of 5,0 by Mixed Feeling about this nice hotel I really have mixed feelings about my stay at this hotel. Overall it was a great and enjoyable experience. The only real disappointment I faced with this hotel was the delay in getting my room I arrived to hotel at 11am and got the room at around 3:30 or 4:00pm despite my request during booking for an early checkin. Maybe the delay itself was not my only issue but the overall handling of the situation of the front office staff of not being clear and direct. The in room dining is superb no issues there at all. The housekeeping also very good. As I said earlier the feelings are mixed it started off bad but turned out great. 22. September 2014

The bed is too small and can only be used as single beds , bathroom is oldfassioned and shower not workig. Noiselevel from the street is too high. 20. September 2014

Rated 3,0 out of 5,0 NOt very good experience Internet connection was poor. Room was too cold with no possibility to warm. Slound of the metro roaring past every minute woke me each night I am forced to stay because the company of which I am director books me here. Frankly, not a good experience and also quite expensive. Rated 2,0 out of 5,0 by Beautifull Hotel If you want to stay in a hotel with history, beauty and location then this place is for you. BUT, if you want the service to go along with it then I would recomend finding another hotel. Just returned from my stay there in Paris and have to stay I am glad I did not have to pay for this trip as the service there was definately not what I would of expected. Was there with a large group and rooms were not ready. When we finally did get our room we had to carry our own bags up. The converters they provided did not work with anything I took so beware. If I every have the opportunity to got back to Paris and that I would definately stay at another hotel. 11. September 2014

It is particularly well-placed for the Palais Garnier, of "Phantom" fame, (which is worth an entire afternoon doing a self-guided tour) and the Galleries Lafayette. The Seine and classy stores are a 10 minute fascinating stroll away. There are many wonderful hotels in Paris, but this one is special. 10. September 2014

The staff, from the Director to the housekeeping personnel are pleasant and professional and genuinely interested in creating a pleasant stay. The hotel provides a hospitable, attractive and secure atmosphere. I look forward to my next visit to Le Grand. 7. September 2014
