Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 283 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by If you plan to relax, relax in style and tranquility As part of a business trip I had the pleasure of staying with IHG in Tahiti. The Resort is incredible, the staff outstanding. With some distance between building units, even motorized transport is available to wisk you to/from the lobby and your room or if you are most fortunate, your over-the-water-bungalow! A short 3 minute drive to the airport, some might say the overhead air traffic is a downside but in reality there are only a few commercial large aircraft flights daily and they didn't seem to interfere with MY tranquility or relaxation. During this stay, there was some modest renovations going on BUT in support of good management decisions, I was pleased to see that they were restricting the hours of work to 9-12 and 2-6 daily which meant sleeping in was fine and it wasn't disruptive in the evenings either so you could rest or unwind as you saw fit. The Resort is well laid out with many amenities and the staff to support them. Check In/Out was a breeze and the lobby was busy both times for me so their processing of arriving and departing guests is down to a fine art. Now cost...let's be honest...if you know French Polynesia, it is "pricey" compared to say Canada or the US...but your not IN Canada or the US. Remember, almost everything there is IMPORTED meaning it's going to cost more. If you do take the time however to compare costs of say meals, drinks or other hotel rates for similar rooms/service, you will find the Resort is very competitive. Yes, the initial shock of the costs is something to prepare for but if you put that concern out of your head and enjoy what the Island(s) and the Resort has to offer, you'll have an unforgettable stay. Staff - the key usually to all which leads to success and THIS staff is no exception. Attentive, courteous, professional, and genuine - they really make you feel welcome, they will go out of their way to assist you with any request (within their limit/power of course) and do everything possible to ensure your stay is memorable. From the Kitchen staff and their fine cuisine, to the Housekeeping staff and their attention to cleanliness and comfort, to the Management overseeing the whole operation, it is THESE people who make the Resort the success it is. I am off on my next leg of the trip and will miss the Intercontinental Tahiti Resort but will look forward to a return trip and stay with them anytime. Maybe if I am lucky, for a vacation and not business next time! 13 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Location Stayed at the Intercontinental for a few days to relax after a cruise. It was a wonderful experience and we would recommend it to anyone traveling in this area. 13 November 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wish we could've stayed longer. In searching for a hotel to layover for a day/ night before our flight, this property was more than perfect. Close to the airport, restaurant located on property, great staff & services, plus an ocean front view to die for. Wish we could've stayed longer. 13 November 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful property, average garden room The pools are amazing, the views are breathtaking. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The garden view room we had was pretty average. The bathroom, specifically the toilet, was not cleaned from the previous guest. A little disappointing considering we were on our honeymoon, and had saved up a long time to be able to come to Tahiti. For vegetarian guests, the breakfast buffet has a few options, but can be limited at times. Would be nice if drinks were a little cheaper, but we knew what we were going into the trip. Hurts the pocket book. This was the first stop of 3 (Moorea, Bora Bora) on our honeymoon, and although it was nice, the other two stops, also at Intercons, were much nicer. 11 November 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful location in Tahiti This hotel has beautiful grounds, infinity pools. best one being the salt water pool with white coral sand bottom. It faces directly toward Moorea with stunning views. The rooms are lovely. Two problems, First, the check in process Do not expect to get into your room early even if you have flown all night and requested it. They do have 4 rooms near the check in area, one of which you can change, shower etc and they will store your bags until your room is ready. Have your bathing suit, sunscreen hat and book handy, so you can relax in their beautiful setting. The other thing you should be aware of is the cost of the restaurants. We found it really expensive to eat there, even in the buffet. We found the food quality was not great, even though there is a variety. We did not eat in the really expensive restaurant because the prices were very high. The people who work there are lovely, and pleasant., and you soon relax and enjoy the wonderful setting. 11 November 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Get newer rooms The room was nice but I had paid more then another guests who got a much better room. It must have been in a newer wing. It's never fun to get less and pay more. The bathtub was in terrible shape with the tub stained and the caulking coming off the wall. The person answering the "0" phone number needs lessons in being polite. It took two calls for someone to fix our room. When booking I had specified two separate beds but got a single bed, ie two singles pushed together. The grounds were very nice and enjoyed the lagoonarium and pool near the swim up bar. Five of us had a meal at the Tiare and all food the meal "good". Please note that I recommend this property mainly ybecause there are few choices in this area of the island. 11 November 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Works in progress Please read carefully the small print regarding the works in progress around the hotel lobby, pool area and bungalows. We booked in a hurry and were disappointed at arrival. There is no discounted price although this limited the value you are expecting. Next to this temporary issue, the hotel provides a fair deal and good service. 10 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rare to only hear 'Yes' at a hotel... I travel a bit, and it seems there is always something to deal with at the hotel. This was not the case with my stay, everything was arranged before I arrived. I was greeted by very friendly staff, and all questions answered, with a 'Yes'. My lagoon view room was beautiful. The grounds were clean and well kept. The open-air restaurant was pleasant and the local selections from the menu delicious. All in all this was a great experience that I will repeat the next time I visit Tahiti! 03 November 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All I heard was 'Yes!' I travel a bit, and it always is something to fix or arrange at my hotel. From the moment I arrived, all I heard was "Yes". We arrived very early, and 'yes' there was a place to change until checkin (necessary to shed my cooler climate clothes). Yes, there was a cooling drink. Yes, we will shuttle you to your room. Yes, the property is yours to explore. Yes, we have a shuttle (Le Truck) to Papeete. The property was clean and beautiful. There was bug spray in the room, but we found this is normal for Tahiti. There is a wonderful pool, and a lagoon where you can snorkel. The staff will share stories and legends of the area, if asked. There are 2 restaurants, we ate in the open air Tiare. We selected the local dishes, and they were delicious. Sunday morning was a buffet with entertainment. Prices are reasonable for Tahiti. The next time we find ourselves in Tahiti, we will book here if available. This was a pre- and -post cruise stay only...next time we will stay longer! 31 October 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Tahiti Thought there should have have been a discount since there was construction going on which blocked view of water. Also, thought drinks were way overpriced. I think the construction should have been mentioned before booking. It wasn't mentioned online. The noise of the construction was very annoying. I didn't expect that after paying such a high price for the room. 31 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great place to stay but definitely a resort trap Great place. Really it is. But it is obviously designed to keep you at the resort. Food at the back restaurant is simply amazing. Beds are hard as a rock but they have a PILLOW MENU! ! Swim up bar in the infinity pool is really nice and comfortable. Concierge and staff extremely helpful. The place is beautiful. Go to the one on Moorea for a true island experience. 29 October 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disgusting -- bugs everywhere We arrived for an overnight stay before catching a plane the next mroning. Upon arrival the open air lobby was swarming with bugs flying in the air and crawling everywhere. The person in reception had to sweep a bug off the counter so he could show us how to get to our room and one of the luggage attendants was sent with a large broom to sweep the bugs off the floor. The luggage attendant also had to brush them off our luggage (as did we when we got to our room). There were also bugs crawling outside our door and in the entry way to the room. I used the bug spray that was in the closet (that says it all) to spray these areas to kill the bugs and treat the area so they (hopefully) wouldn't come back. It was truly disgusting and made turning the lights off to go to sleep very discomforting. The bugs were gone in the morning but the stay was ruined and we couldn't wait to leave. This was unacceptable for what is supposed to be a premium hotel. 29 October 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Some dining room staff need to be more friendly This was our second visit and we found everything to be as wonderful as we remembered it except that one waitress in the Tiarra restaurant was neither pleasant or helpful . Everyone. else was great. The whole place needs modernizing and upgrading as it is showing its age. I know you are working on this. Our traveling companions had a room with several issues needing repair. Had another great meal at t he Lotus 29 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Stay & Great Service Staff at check In recognised me as a member and he thanks me for my loyalty to the hotel brand. Staff at Front desk was so amazing and helpful especially the staff at check In and check Out. I will definetely recommend your hotel. 29 October 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Poor service and not informed of renovations We were really looking forward to a day in paradise at the Intercontinental Tahiti. We got off to a poor start as we arrived at 9am and we did not get a room until 2pm. Even though other guests were not Gold members they still got rooms before us. Then we were very disappointed with our view of paradise as it was contaminated by a big dredger boat and partially built buildings. We had not been advised of these renovations. Finally our tv did not work and I reported this to guest services. 4 hours later no one had arrived to fix the problem. Unbelievably bad service. I expect much better service from Intercontinental 23 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay After a hot and long line delay at the airport, it was wonderful to arrive at your hotel and have gracious welcoming porters and an easy check in process. Then although it was a long walk to our room, it was well worth the walk as we had a very comfortable night sleep both with a good bed and cool air conditioner. Also loved the wifi service throughout the hotel. 23 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Memorable Experience I awoke before dawn on the last day of our visit and stepped onto my deck as the quiet night sounds began to rise into the first bird calls of the day. I walked down the lush lawn and stepped barefoot into the still water of the seaside pool. Across the shimmering lagoon the distant surf broke on the reef. And on the horizon, through the whispering palms, the island of Moorea emerged out of the dusk, and sun soon painted its craggy peaks with red, then gold, then dusky green. We were equally dazzled by the Resort staff, extending from the Resort’s Chief Concierge through our room housekeepers. We were privileged to attend the very popular Tahitian dance show on Friday evening at the Te Tiare restaurant though we encountered a minor inconvenience in seating. The Concierge was most attentive the next morning as we approached him on the issue and quickly offered a very satisfactory remediation. And the housekeeping crew was absolutely trustworthy: they left untouched the cash tip we had left on our first morning. Hopefully our note and cash was accepted the day that we departed. All-in-all, a visit that exceeded the highest of our expectations! Thank you, International Resort Tahiti! 20 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Stay I stop at the Intercontinental in Papeete several times per year. I would not stay any where else. I love the staff, the comfortable rooms and the great food. 20 October 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Stay - but rooms need renovation Overall a comfortable stay (one night in transit). The rooms and bathrooms do need upgrading, but the rooms are spacious and clean. There was work taking place in the lobby area during our stay, it did not cause any interruption, but it will be interesting to see what developments they are planning. We had dinner and lunch at the main restaurant and in the bar area. The food was tasty and well presented with very good service. The breakfast buffet was average and the selection was a little poor. The pool areas were nice and we were able to get seating without much trouble, however there was limited shade. 17 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by OUTSTANDING from arrival to departure Originally we booked to stay for 3 days before our charter. We arrived at 6am, a 10 minute ride from airport and were in the room before 11am . We had an ocean view room and it was spectacular ! The salt water pool was fun and the big pool is really nice. The property is well manicured and a good size. There are no beaches here but none were expected. Quality of food was very good and broad variety. The staff are outstanding, nothing was an issue and all were very friendly and helpful.. Our first experience was so good we changed our end of trip plans brought another couple to stay here again and the experience was just as good as the first. If we come to Tahiti again ,this will be our only hotel we will use . it was not cheap but is well worth the price 16 October 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor experience Check in - room not ready after check in time. Bed very hard and uncomfortable, Shower was difficult to use and the style not appropriate for a premium hotel brand, it just sprayed the wall/window and not me (somehow someone decided to put a window at the end of the bath!!!). Internet was slow to connect to. Lack of a selection of English language TV channels. Some fellow guests commented on very slow service in the restaurant although I ordered room service in the early evening and this was satisfactory Hotel is close to the airport so suffers from plane noise but is obviously handy for quick transfers. The hotel appears to be undergoing some renovation and this is badly needed in my view as it all appears to be tired. Billing error had to be sorted out at check-out. Location on the lagoon was lovely but didn't make up for all the issues and I left feeling very disappointed. 16 October 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Honeymoon We stayed here for one night when traveling to Bora Bora. Overall, it's a good hotel, but seems to be a little outdated compared to other InterContinental hotels we stayed at in Bora Bora and Moorea. With that being said, the staff was very helpful in every way. They are in the process of renovating the hotel so they might be brand new in a few months. 15 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great Staff Noce hotel for a couple of nights in Papeete, Tahiti. 15 October 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Continuation of problem resolution I wasn't able to finish what I wrote in the previous space provided resolution of the problem. The hotel manager, upon news of our issue and disappointment, immediately reassigned us to a superior ocean view room, not only for our entire stay, but our return stay the next week, with no extra charge. Nevertheless, the construction, which obviously is necessary to update your hotel (it needs to match the quality of both the InterContinental in Moorea and Bora Bora, both of which we dined and jetskiied at, and both of which are superior, did create some inconvenience at the hotel 13 October 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Inter Continental Tahiti A great hotel in a beautiful place. Staff is attentive and friendly. Rooms are nice. Would have liked better storage space for clothing. Also the Hotel lobby was under renovation which detracted from the hotel experience. 10 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Stay A wonderful experience of Tahitian hospitality. The locals were friendly and knowledgeable. The complex was amazing and everything was at our fingertips. The staff at the resort were very accommodating and friendly. Could not fault anything except our time there was too short!! 09 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel This is a very good hotel. The rooms are lovely and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast is excellent, so is the bar and the cocktails. Would definitely stay here again if in Papeete. 09 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Friendliness and kindness of the entire staff My husband and I were very well received in this lovely hotel. We would like to thank the friendliness and kindness of the entire staff. 07 October 2014
