Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Okay We stayed at this location on the first night of our honeymoon. We were supposed to get a honeymoon gift, but I am not sure if we did. When we questioned the front desk regarding it they didn't have a clue as to what we were talking about. Otherwise that, the hotel is beautiful. Breakfast was great. They have a nice size swimming pool. Check in was a mess. We had a transfer service from the airport to the hotel and it was a coach bus. It seemed like the coach bus dumped us all at once and the front desk could not handle so many people at the same time. It took forever. Probably the worst check in I've ever experienced. 20 July 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Noise We stayed two nights prior to a cruise and one night post. Two rooms where booked, one with twin beds (for my son and daughter) and one with a double. During the check-in I confirmed with the staff that one of the rooms had twin beds, on arriving at the room they discovered it was a double bed. A call to reception was made only to be told that as housekeeping had gone for the evening and nothing could be done until morning. Not what two siblings who were not that impressed about having to share a room wanted to hear. I went to reception and after checking that there were no other rooms available the two reception staff went to the room and managed to split the beds. This was now about 2:30am. Our room was tired. Holes in the shower walls and a shower hose /head that would not stay on the wall bracket. The room we had been given was overlooking the runway threshold so we were woken twice with late night departures. Post cruise we were given rooms close to the main pool and restaurant, the music from the Saturday evening cultural show was extremely loud but did finish around 10:30pm, only for us to be woken at 7:30am with the entertainment for the Sunday Brunch. If you are staying here insist on a room away from the airport and pool area and be carefull of falling shower heads. 19 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overall Resort Excellent stay at the Intercontinental. Only thing lacking was a really nice beach. Beautiful infinity pools, excellent landscape and well groomed. Actually had the best breakfast buffet. Had an incredible dinner at Le Lotus Restaurant on property. Great staff, friendly and helpful! 17 July 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by warm welcome, remembered birthday with a gift, friendly resort we stayed 1 night stopover to Bora and I night on on way home. overall I would recommend this establishment, we noted it was also family friendly. attention to detail was excellent and breakfast buffet also excellent. Whether you want to soak in the sun, swim, snorkel or a drink at the bar help is always on hand. We asked to change room as it was near the pool and we could hear the band and entertainment that night, and to their credit we were moved with no fuss. well done Small detail: we had organised an early breakfast 4.50am the night before as we had a very early flight back home. It did not arrive and we paid for it. This was mentioned to front desk staff. a small detail, but nevertheless when you have paid and organised the night before, this was disappointing. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful location - Fabulous Lagoon Like many other travelers, we stayed here for only one night en route to Bora Bora (wish we had stayed another night here and one night less in Bora Bora actually!) - the room was lovely, the bathroom gorgeous. We arrived very late from Hawaii around 11 p.m. and the welcome cocktail upon arrival was very welcome. The only issue we had was that we had booked a room with two beds and were originally sent to a room with one bed but we quickly had this fixed. The bell boy desk was a bit understaffed, probably because it was late at night, and we ended up taking our own cases to our room which was a bit of a hike and involved a few stairs but was not a big deal. We had a balcony and found out in the morning that we had a lovely view of the water. It was great to have coffee out there first thing! The lagoon is fabulous and we snorkeled there in the morning prior to flying to Bora Bora. It is full of fish and we had a great time in there. It was so relaxing and pretty. The property is just lovely. We did not have breakfast there so I can't comment on the food. Definitely would recommend. 09 July 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hub to investigate French Polynesia Visiting different islands in French Polynesia (also other IC hotels) the IC Tahiti was a great hub for investigating the island of Tahiti as well as for travelling to Moorea and Bora Boara. This is due to the short distance to the airport (no problem with air traffic noises as they are starting in the other direction!). Also the staff was of great help at any time and the concierge team (especially Eloise) did a great job in supporting my rather complex trip. The hotels itself has a nice and calm additional pool aside from the large one which made it a very relaxing experience. The view from the room and that pool over the sea towards Moorea was awesome. 07 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Stopover to Bora Bora The InterContinental Tahiti is a perfect stopover hotel to a cruise or to another Island. The location is about 10 minutes from the airport. We had 5 nights in Bora Bora so on our way in we stayed one night and caught our morning flight to Bora Bora. On our way out we booked two nights (and really only slept one night) and checked out at 10PM to catch our Midnight flight home. I'm a Platinum Ambassador in the Priority Club and received a double upgrade to an over-water bungalow! While some rooms are a little tired, they are clean and the facilities (especially the pools!) are great. For us, staying at The InterContinental Tahiti was a great way to round out our overall trip! 06 July 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Priority One Customer This property is beautiful, well maintained and a please to visit. Please choose this resort or its counter part on Moorea. I am a Priority one customer, I tried to tie the reservation to my account and was told that because my spouse booked the reservation that I was out of luck. If you are a priority one member be sure that the you book the reservation. The staff was not understanding of my question. I pre-paid for the reservation. The Intercontinental had my cash, so I was unable to negotiate. Again this was a very nice, albeit cost prohibitive lodging for a disabled veteran.. 03 July 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Needs updating We were upgraded to an over-watwr bungalow. While the concept was great, it was in serious need of updating. Bathroom and even doors looked like they were from the 60s. Small bugs on bathroom floor one night. Grounds were nice, and they had a great Tahitian drum and dance show. However the buffet that night was sorely lacking on variety if you don't like fish. I had one item to choose from. 02 July 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyment despite disappointment We loved our stay in Papeete at the Intercontinental. But it started off with a HUGE disappointment. We had an overwater bungalow reserved but when we checked in we were advised that they had been damaged two weeks prior in a big storm. Why didn't the hotel notify us so our expectations wouldn't be dashed. We had SO been looking forward to the overwater bungalow stay - which was to be a highlight of our trip to French Polynesia. Took us a while to get over the disappointment and then we enjoyed our stay. 02 July 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Don't Hesitate! This is The BEST place to stay in Tahiti I have stayed all over the world and have never had the treatment that I received here. You are treated like royalty; the staff bends over backwards to accommodate your every whim. Do yourself a favor and purchase an ambassador card right away and start reaping the benefits like room upgrades, later checkout times, ect. ect. Other huge benefits are how close the resort is to the airport, and the beautiful lagoonarium. We stayed here both on the way to and from Bora Bora and we will stay here again. A special thanks goes out to the head of the hotel restaurant Febree, when I found out that TSA probably wouldn't let me return to the U.S. with the fish I had caught in Bora, Febree had his chef cook them up for supper, and the rest for breakfast... amazing.. 26 June 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel & Close to the Airport! The hotel is less than 10 minutes from the airport, which is ideal after the long flight! We enjoyed the lagoon-pool and the regular pools during our stay. The breakfast buffet was delicious and comprehensive. The hotel is also within 15 minutes of downtown, so you can easily get a cab to the food trucks, farmers' market, shopping, or the ferry to Moorea. 25 June 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The Lotus My wife and I both had the worst meals in French Polynesia at the Lotus restraint. I had the veal. It was not tender and very salty. I had trouble cutting it with a knife. My wife had the rack of lamb. It was 90% fat, with only a small portion of it eatable. For the price we paid it was terrible. 24 June 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disapointing Service While checking staff were most helpful that is where service ended. Getting a drink at the bar to 15 min when we were the only couple there. Getting somebody to take an order at lunch time at the restaurant by the pool tool forever as well. Check out was also painful. at 5AM there were probably 15 -20 individual accounts checking out and wanting to catch the airport shuttle. The hotel knew about all the simultaneous check outs as all would have been advised on check in of the checkout time for the shuttle. Yes the hotel only had one person on the reception desk meaning the bus was delayed and a frustratingly slow process for all. Lovely Hotel and amenities just lacking in service. 06 June 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable room but very bad service. We stayed for one night to catch our flight early next morning. The room was comfortable but the TV was not working. We had a polinesian gift included that was forgotten! We asked for a wakeup call at 400 AM but the reception made a mistake and woke us up at 2:00 AM. Then they forgot the one at 4:00 AM. We had a buffet breakfast included in our package which I was told was no problem due to the early checkout and could order it to the lobby or room service. We ordered breakfast (half an hour in advance) and when we came to the loby nothing was ready. Finally we got a bad coffe with a toast and butter (nothing else). When I complained to the reception about the bad service and told them I was not expecting this from a 5 star hotel. The man at the reception answered that it was a 4 star hotel, not five, and that was the reason for a "not so good service". With this answer I considered the discussion was a waste of time. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room noise We stayed 2 nights pre Paul Gauguin cruise and 1 night post cruise. Our first room #325 was a very nice room, however, the band that started at 5.30pm was extremely disturbing. The noise and thrumming reverberated up to our 3rd floor room to the extent that we couldn't even hear ourselves think INSIDE the room - the verandah was totally useless as the noise was even worse there. Couldn't even sit outside to enjoy a leisurely drink! Thank goodness we upgraded after our cruise to an overwater bungalow - very nice, clean, quiet and comfortable. 17 May 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good for overnight flight layovers This was a good place to stay overnight till our next flight in the morning. It was a nice place, nothing too special (at least compared to our other hotel in Tahaa). The Air conditioning system in the room didn't work too well, but with some effort to increase the airflow it was OK. The food was much nicer than I expected for a big resort. I would stay there again if my flight schedule required it. 15 May 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Resort and Friendly Staff We arrived at the Intercontinental Tahiti late on a Saturday night after arriving from Honolulu. We checked right in and the staff at the front desk could not have been more friendly. We were offered a drink of fresh fruit juice while we were checking in. My reservation was for a Panoramic View Room on a Buy One Get One Ambassador Club Certificate. We were upgraded to a Lotus OTW Bungalow. Our room was beautiful and appeared newly remodeled and very clean. The room consisted of a sitting area with desk and refrigerator. There was a separate area with a King Size bed and a television that pivoted between the two rooms. The room had lots of windows to enjoy the beautiful view. There was a deck with two lounge chairs and we were able to step down into the water right from our platform. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset right from our deck. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was quite large with a large tub, separate shower and an enclosed toilet. We ate dinner at the Lotus Restaurant, which we really enjoyed. The grounds of this hotel are beautiful. There is an adult pool with a swim-up bar which is very nice. There is also a family pool and a lagoonarium. We witnessed quite a few workers maintaining the grounds. I have only great things to say about this hotel. We enjoyed our stay and hope that we can get back there one day soon.
